    Single Car Garage Remodel!

This is a great thread, and what a transformation with only $76!! I recently moved and now have a single car garage that needs a face lift. Right now it's just useless wire shelving. I'm hoping it will be cheap just like yours but only time will tell as I haven't started yet. Thanks for all...

    Which T8 Bulb????

I just replaced a single incandescent bulb with a dual 4' T8 fixture with 5000k bulbs from Lowes and it is completely worth the money. Fixture and two bulbs were about $35, but the garage is now usable! I would highly recommend bulbs in the 5000k range.

Garage Door Not Fitting Tightly in Frame...

Just like Kevin54 said, you can put a 1/4" piece of plywood between the roller bracket and the door itself. This will push the track wheel against the track (into the garage) and push the door out (towards the weatherstripping you have moved). I have read this works several times here and may...

I'm insulating my sectional steel door - pics inside

What type of temperature gains have you guys seen from insulating your inner garage doors? What about noise reduction? And how did you seal up the sides and top of your garage door akjason?

    insulation for wooden garage door

Did you ever settle on a solution isaac338? I'm looking to add some insulation to my garage door as well, probably 1.5" foam, but I want to see how it turns out for other people, find out what the heat gain/retention is, and go from there.

    Garage Door Interior Finishing Ideas

@jimmy p -- After you installed the 1.5" of foam to your garage door panels, did you notice a difference inside the garage? Was it worth it? I've installed a new weatherstrip across the bottom of my garage door and it does a much better job keeping the wind and dirt out so now I need to...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? This past weekend I replaced the single 65w incandescent bulb with a dual 4' T8 fixture. It is amazing how much more light this fixture produces! I have a single car garage - approx. 19' deep x 9' wide x 7'6"ish high, and this lights up most of it...

What do you do with remodel shrapnel (old functional appliances/scraps/etc)?

Thanks for your input everybody. I'm giving CL another shot and we'll see what happens. I've also found a local Habitat ReStore location, so I'll be giving them a call next week if the fans aren't gone. @trainwreck - that is a great idea for a plier wrack. I could definitely bend some of it...

What do you do with remodel shrapnel (old functional appliances/scraps/etc)?

When you guys are working on your homes and taking out appliances and walls and updating things, what do you do with the old stuff? For instance, I have a couple fans and some track lighting that have been removed and replaced in the past two months. I will have wire shelving and a full wall...

    FS: Track Lighting

I have three track lighting kits I just removed from my ceilings. They work great, just not my style. They are off white/light beige in color. Set 1: 48" track, three lights, 45 watt flood bulbs, $15 Set 2: 92" track, four lights, 50-75 watt bulbs, $20 Set 3: 92" track, four lights, 50-75...

    FS: Two White Ceiling Fans

Hey everyone - I have two ceiling fans for sale, $20 each. The big one is 50" across, has five 20" blades, is a 3-speed, reversible, and is 10" tall. Mounting bracket included. Works great. The little one is a 44" Hunter, has four 18" blades, is a 3-speed, reversible, and is 10" tall...

    work benches... from scratch

So many ideas and examples, this is great stuff! I hope to design and build a bench for my new garage this spring or early summer using some of your ideas. How important is it for the bench top to overhang the legs/frame so you can clamp things down? Suggested overhang depths? If you don't...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? Started cleaning up my closet doors. Previous owner rolled them when painting which left a lot of texture which I don't like, and also put paint on all the hardware. I've learned there is no easy way to sand paint smooth on wood. I picked up a Ryobi...

So what was your BEST garage update this year?

Bought a townhouse with a single attached garage. For the previous five years I lived in a condo and parked in the street. Ah, so nice to put the car in the garage each night!

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? Cleaned paint off the tracks for my bi-fold closet doors. Thank you previous owners for not taping a thing and sloping paint everywhere! An hour and a half of my life gone for little return, but at least I know it is clean and won't be painted again...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? The brackets weren't adjustable, but there was a catch that puts pressure on the top panel and pushes it against the frame/weatherstripping. It's not perfectly sealed, but it is MUCH better than the 3/4" gap that was there. Thanks for the info...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? @JoeMopar - Awesome, thanks for the info! I'll have to look at that soon b/c the garage is an ice bucket right now. I don't have a thermometer I could put in there, so I put a cup of water in there instead and I'm hoping it doesn't freeze while I'm at...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? Today I pulled the car out and went to work! But Saturday I installed new weatherstripping to the bottom of the garage door. Now I have to figure out how to seal the top panel, which no longer seals against the frame because of the extra height gained...
