What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Do you remove all transistors and capacitors off the board first or do you just throw the whole thing in the oven?

Just swapped out a door on my Audi A4.

Whats your best guess for tool collection replacement cost?

Re: Whats your best guess for your tool collection replacement cost? The tools and machinery in my garage are easily worth more than the entire contents of my house - easily! If anything happens to me, a good friend of mine knows to come over and tell my wife what things really cost. The last...

    Missing tool...hope I'm not alone!

Re: Missing tool...hope I'm not alone![emoji38] Oh I’ve lost my battery charger more times than I can count - in my own garage. My garage was a mess so I kept moving stuff around, including the charger. I finally said screw it and put up a new wall cabinet right by the big garage doors. Now...

    Missing tool...hope I'm not alone!

Re: Missing tool...hope I'm not alone![emoji38] I don’t really lose my own stuff but I’m starting to forget who I loaned stuff to. So, what I do now is take a pic of anybody borrowing a tool - yes, a pic of them holding up the tool(s) they borrowed. It works! Try it!

Quality tools are worth the money.

As I get older I’ve just noticed that I have less and less tolerance to working with cheap tools, especially common tools that get used a lot. I started with a craftsman 99 piece mechanics set (which I still have) but then slowly went to mostly snap-on and other top pick specific tools and...

Milwaukee 12V Fuel - anybody buy and then...

My Milwaukee collection started with a heated M12 jacket for the Chicago winters, which I bought as a bare tool before I even had an M12 battery. Then I bought an M12 1/4 impact, soldering iron, right angle grinder, and a 3/8 ratchet. I had a bunch of Rigid cordless tools but the M18...

I read about 20 pages of the 2020 garage sale thread.

I’ve found awesome finds while inquiring about tools from for sale postings that most people will always ignore. Any posting without a pic, misspelled words, brief description, crazy high price, or better yet, no price at all, is where the real treasures will be found. There’s always going to...

    Bit Ratchets

This is my favorite bit holder. I last used it with a torx bit to swap out the oil pump in my 08’ Audi A4, since I only had like an inch of clearance between the pump and the engine firewall. Just an awesome little 48 tooth ratchet!

    Milwaukee M18 leaf blower?

I am really enjoying mine. I like the variable speed trigger so I can leave it on the highest (rabbit) setting and just pull the trigger slightly in order to blow out leaves and grass from my landscaped rock area. Also I was really worried about battery life anxiety since I’m using an 8amp...

    All purpose torch recommendation

You really need a small portable MAPP gas set up and an oxy/acetylene torch too. That’s what I have. My big tanks are chained to the wall and I have a 50’ hose so I can take the torch anywhere in the garage, or even out in the driveway. A cutting torch with a bunch of different sized rosebud...

    2020 Garage Sale Thread

Picked up this inflater/deflator from a garage sale yesterday. I can’t tell who makes it but the lady said her husband used to be a dealer for Matco. Anybody seen one of these before? It has an internal piece of plastic and, if you use it one way, it will help inflate things. Flip the...

Found a crack in my new lift tower late in the installation. FML!

IF I kept that lift, I’d probably weld it up and then put a thick metal plate over the whole thing as another patch. Anyway I’d keep complaining and see if they can send you a new post.

    Shop Rules

My only rule is that you have to take your used tires with you - as soon as you leave. I have a very attractive (****) COATS tire changer (with robotic arm) and wheel balancer that attracts a lot of car guys. Most friends get trained on how to use the equipment so they can do their own stuff...

Did you ever broke impact socket?

I was in a bind (had loaned out my impact sockets to a friend) and decided to just buy some Impact sockets while shopping at Menards - don’t recall the name of their in-house tool brand. Anyway, the 19mm socket looked nice and thick walled but literally exploded while I was trying to take off...

Need some help troubleshooting a gas pressure washer

If you need a smaller wire for cleaning out those holes, grab a bread wire tie and clean off the sticky paper part from it. The wire that’s left from it will be perfect for your needs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
