Is this a tool? decoration? Or ?

My coworker sent me these pics. An interesting piece. What looks like a hammer head on one end and a hook on the other. But there’s no hole for a handle. We’re pretty stumped. It does look like it might be worn on the inside of the hook. Any ideas would be appreciated.

pretty neat to see the differences. I wonder if that makes some 'early' and some 'later'. This one had no company markings , only the patent date.

    interesting 1880-ish Diamond wrench

picked this today, its has a broken jaw but when i saw the Nov 2, 1880 patent date i figured i should grab it. Not much different from the adjustable wrenches of the time, except for the "speed handle" . From my patent searching it looks like it was patented by the Portland Wrench in 1880...

    H.D. Smith Company, Plantsville, CT

I was reading the thread , I just picked up a Perfect Handle screwdriver from HD smith with the “barber pole “ rolling stamp. Any info on when this was done ? Later in production or early on ? Some really nice HD tools on here. Being in CT, I do often see the old pipe wrenches at garage sales.
