Stanley is stopping making tape measures in the USA.

I have a Powerlock 12' with both standard and metric markings, which was only available from Thailand. Compared to my other Stanleys the quality is not as good in that some kind of clear coat is peeling off the tape.

Anybody want to talk about electric DA sanders

Yes; Griots Garage made a big deal of it when he was just starting out, and I was impressionable so I found it at the local Ace I think. It has been a great tool.

My attempt at a seat bottom on an E36 BMW: I used some hide off eBay, then dyed everything with a color-matched top coat. That lighting looks weird, but in person it is a very close match.

First sign of the G2 Icon ratchets ….

Yes! Been waiting on a 10" straight 3/8 and 6" 1/4 flex. Now they need the 3/8 18 flex to drop...

Anybody want to talk about electric DA sanders

I have a twenty-five year old Porter Cable that works well. I have used it for wet sanding, and it is my go-to DA polisher with a foam buffing pad.

    Quickjack stuck in up position...Rust?

That's a lot of rust if they are really stuck like that. I'd get new frames, as I am under them several times a day every day.

First Experience with Vim Tools Ends in Dissappointment

U-joint plug socket or socket with u-joint, then a chamfered style wobble extension. You have to experiment to get the length of the socket right. For me, a Koken socket with an old Craftsman u-joint works, but I have been told the Snap-On 14mm 12-point u-joint spark socket is more on the...

Here's The Dumbest Question Placed on GJ

When my daughter was little, she crawled by a 12v charger for one of those robot vacuums on the floor and somehow got the cord in her mouth. She was bawling, and I told my wife it was only 12v and probably didn't hurt that bad. So my wife said, "fine - you try it." And it turns out 12v hurts...

1/4" sockets with or without detents

I have several sets of Craftsman and Taiwan sockets without detents. I am afraid to use them in the engine bay, but I also hate to get rid of them. So, they just take up space.

    Collecting tools?

I admire collections of things like a particular tool from every production year, or the complete tool set from the 1968 tool catalog. But, I can't pull it off. For me, it is a combo of things I need and things I want. If I need a new tool, I am going to choose one with style. Sometimes that...

    Speed Handle Collection Complete

I just got the shipping notice on my Koken 1/4" yesterday. The Plomb 3/8 did spark plugs on some kind of Mini yesterday. The Snap-on 3/8 with the scratchy handle is soaking in ATF but is probably not salvageable.

    Quickjack stuck in up position...Rust?

So cylinder is completely out and the frames still won't move? The axle part is not that tight a fit - that would be a lot of rust.

Confess: What Tool Did You Not Really Need But Bought Anyhow? (Silly Stuff Included)
