    mac tool thread

I own the silver bit ratchet listed above. I debated between that one and the red double flex and went with the single flex. It's got a nice weight to it it locks in position and has s smooth mechanism. Feels like a quality tool. The double flex (at least the one I saw at a tool show) didn't...

Proper Way to Use Ball Joint Separator

Did something similar a couple nights ago. I had to do lower control arm bushings on a civic. I used the same ball joint tool that you linked to. Seperated it the same way. Semi crushing the castle nut. One side I tightened it down and BANG arm seperated. The next side I had my impact on it and...

    AC crimper - mastercool atco

I do a few ac lines per year and I've got to do one on my own car. Typically I just replace the line. The line is on back order and I've got to do one on my car. I realize a local shop can crimp the lines (which I may end up doing for my own car if need be) but I don't get paid to run to the...

What (jerry-rig) tools do you use to plug lines/hoses from draining ?

Not Jerry rigged but hose pinch pliers for rubber lines and saw these recently for metal banjo and brake lines. Thinking about ordering them. http://www.eastwood.com/4-piece-line-stopper-set.html Have used foam ear plugs rolled up and stuffed in lines they expand and block flow.

    Press and pull sleeve kit

I'm looking into buying a press and pull sleeve kit. I've got a few bushings to do in a knuckle / arm that I can't see coming out of the car nicely and even then doesn't seem like it will be a very easy to somehow center it and Mount it on a press. Has anyone bought or used one of these? Are...

    Stanley Proto Ball Pein Hammers

I have the antivibe hammers (32 and 40 oz) and honestly I don't really like them. They feel off in weight in my hand. I much prefer my crappy craftsman wood handled ball pein although I'm sure my hands, arms, & wrists will prefer the antivibe in the long run.

    OTC 7394 Hub Puller Opinions?

Sorry to bring this up again but I am trying to decide between this and the hub grappler. My question is when pulling the hub, what exactly does the forcing screw push against if its a drive wheel ? the axle shaft ? or am i expected to pull the shaft and use an adapter from tne rear? i typically...

    Canadian Tire DEALS

I had a similar craftsman set that I didn't use for 2 or 3 years until recently when I went to change out a door check strap and the cage nut broke off and started spinning in the frame. Not enough room or the proper angle to use vise grips but Luckily there was a little access hole I could...

Hydraulic flaring tool or hub grappler

I live in Canada so we do see brake lines rot. Seem to be more trucks than anything at least where I work.. I don't have a hub puller at all. Ive considered picking up the harbor freight bearing kit. I suppose I could get the hf bearing kit and the otc puller like you have linked. I guess I...

Hydraulic flaring tool or hub grappler

The wifes buying me a new tool as my Christmas gift. Well to be fair she said I could choose anything I wanted. Clearly a new tool was in order. Anyways, I wrench for a living. I don't do a whole lot of brake lines but I figure the hydraulic tool will save my *** when I do. I do wheel bearings...

    Ratcheting wrenches

The flex head ones are awesome. I probably use them everyday. I have a set of open ended ratcheting ones that I've probably used twice since I bought them. They were a sears clearance item and I paid next to nothing for them. Good thing as they never seem to come in handy.

Sears Canada screwdrivers and tool boxes

The tools at Sears up here in Canada aren't great. Selection is limited and tools very basic. But they've given me a problem using the warranty for broken blades.
