Pro/Con of Putting Compressor Outside? Please Advise.

A buddy of mine had a shed out in his yard and he put his compressor in there. I believe he ran a rubber air hose inside a PVC pipe from the shed to his garage. He seems pretty happy with it so far. Probably not the most perfect way to do it, but it's been cheap and effective so far.

Is this torque wrench actually manufactured by snap on?

I wish the techwrench had an off button. Seems odd that you just put it back in the case and wait for it to turn off on its own. Seems like a waste of batteries

Is this torque wrench actually manufactured by snap on?

I'm in the market for something that will do from around 5nM-50nM. (I work on VW's and that's the range most of our important bolts fall into). So far the techwrench seems to be the best for that range, but I'd like to find a clicker-style due to price, and I also prefer the "click" over the...

Is this torque wrench actually manufactured by snap on?

Hey guys I was wondering if this torque wrench http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=642123&group_ID=681597 is made by snap-on or if its rebranded? I've seen some made by K-D tools that look a bit similar

wonder why your Mac, Matco, Snap on Cornwell tool man doesnt come around

It still amazes me that the tool truck guys can pay their bills. Selling expensive things to non-rich people just doesn't seem like a good business plan.I'm very lucky to have a box full of snap on stuff that's paid off, but now I barely buy anything. We have a Mac guy and a snap on guy who come...

    Source for cheap screw jacks?

Wouldn't an overhead hoist with a strap wrapped around the roof cause the same amount of stress on the roof? Isn't that how they lift bodies off using an overhead hoist? Or do they wrap the strap elsewhere?

    Source for cheap screw jacks?

You may be right, we're new to this, but We saw a guy on YouTube support his body using a similar method except he was using a wood frame. Also the body has been stripped of its interior and doors. Anyone else have input on whether this is a good/bad idea?

    Source for cheap screw jacks?

It's a bit hard to explain. Basically we would have 2 steel bars running from one side of the car to the other, underneath the roof. on each side of the two bars there would be a screw jack. Then we unbolt the body, crank the screw jacks up, which lifts the support bars, picking the body up off...

I like the prices on those but I think I need some of the tall ones, like 5-6 ft tall at least

    Source for cheap screw jacks?

Hey my friend and I came up with an idea to lift a car body off a frame the other night using 4 screw jacks like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000N4PYPY/ref=redir_mdp_mobile , I figured they would be cheap since they seem pretty simple, but I can't find any for less than $120 each, which...

    Mechanics get screwed

So the techs would have to buy their own lift? Or was a lift provided?

Is 32 too old to go to mechanic school?

^ this. You're not too old to start over, but pick a different career. I'm an ASE master tech and a Wyotech graduate. Flat rate is a real tough way to make a living. And dealerships/manufacturers are constantly inventing new methods to pay techs as little as possible to cut overhead costs...

    battery charger recommendations?

Wow I really like both of those. Is one better than the other? The roll around seems to have more power.

I believe ecs tuning sells terminal tools for VW's on their website in the tools section. Might be worth a look

    battery charger recommendations?

I'm Thinking of getting my dad a battery charger for Christmas this year. (A charger, not a battery tender) does anyone have any recommendations for a somewhat affordable, quality charger? Or any ideas on what features I should look for specifically? I'd like a roll-around charger with a few...

Got me a new impact gun, a limited edition snap on

Pretty nice. You may need to replace the clear boot every once in a while though. I have one and it collects a lot of dirt underneath it and kind of gets yellowed over time. Mine is 5 years old though and I've never bothered to replace it since my gun is just boring old red lol.

Snap-On Quality Control On Diagonal Pliers...The Hell?

Just checked my 2006 87cf pliers, made in USA. They have a small gap all the way through other than at the very tip. They have always worked great. I just cut some 22 ga wire sitting in my tool box just to be sure. Cut it cleanly in one quick motion.

    Q? for the snap-on junkies...

At least give them a try before you condemn them as something you don't like. There's a reason why everyone likes them so much and pays so much for them. This is a good opportunity to try something new that might not normally have a chance to try.
