How to keep things from sticking to newly painted surfaces?

I don’t know what kind of paint you’re using, but I usually leave switch plates and such off for at least a couple days before I remount them. Never had a problem. Same goes for painting exterior doors. If I try to rush it and close it after a couple hours, it sticks to the weather stripping...

    School me on O-rings

I’ve had problems matching o rings and washers for plumbing for at least the last 10 years. I think manufacturers do this on purpose. As said above I usually just buy the rebuild parts from the manufacturer as they aren’t that expensive.

Yeah, another lift thread. Best lift for a truck?

Online the 2011 crew cab Duramax is listed at 9300-9900 lbs Edit- I see that my numbers are gross. Thanks for heads up. I do have a roughly 250lb brush guard and about 150lb winch. A few hundred more in tools is normal too

Yeah, another lift thread. Best lift for a truck?

Lol I should mention, my wife’s 2018 Suburban has those built in steps and air dam in front it is a royal PIA to works on. With my floor jack lifting it as high as it can go, I slide a jack stand underneath, and still have issues getting my fat azz under those steps! Horrible to work on. One of...

Yeah, another lift thread. Best lift for a truck?

I had started a thread on a lift I had an eye on, but turns out it’s probably not best for my situation. So….. I have a 2011 Silverado 2500 Crew cab Duramax (just under 10,000 lbs.) Wife has a 2018 Suburban 4x4. Son has a ‘98 2500 Silverado with a plow. 3 old muscle cars too. What lifts would...

    Garage Speakers

Maybe someday. For now I just have a simple old Sony receiver with some old speakers of my dads from the 70’s. My kids all have Bluetooth speakers, they sound great at low volume indoors, but this old set up of mine rocks, has great bass, and can hear it up the street if needed. I have them...

    Bowed Deck Rails

I say BS. Guy doesn’t want to deal with a problem. Yeah, boards always magically straighten out after they’ve been installed. Now if it’s say, a 12’ piece, and it’s going to be supported by 3 or 4 supports it might straighten some when screwed down.

    Challenger E10 lift

Thanks guys, that’s the info I need to know. I don’t want to consider it if it nor what I need. My truck is a 2500 crew cab BTW

    Challenger E10 lift

Oh, also, I own a 2011 Duramax which is shown to weigh 9300-9900 lbs. The lift is rated at 10,000 lbs. Is this pushing the envelope too much?

    Challenger E10 lift

My son’s school has dropped their auto program since the teacher retired. They are now debating selling the 2 post lift. I was just looking at lifts to put into my 30x40x12 garage, so this may work out to be a situation of great timing. It’s a Challenger E10. From searching online I see Snap-On...

    Automotive smoke machine questions

I’m thinking about buying a smoke machine for diagnosing vacuum leaks and such on vehicles. Never having owned one I have a few questions from those of you that have used them. For example, if checking for a vacuum leak on my old carbureted cars, I assume I’d have to block exhaust, breathers...

    Lawn trailer tires

Tubes! The first time they leak I put a tube in them. I have a couple various trailers sitting around now waiting for me to tube them.

Central Vacuums for House and Garage.

I moved to my current home last fall. It’s the first house I’ve lived in with a central vac. Great novelty, but after the first week we never used it again. The hose takes up a lot of space in the closet we store it in, and does no better cleaning than our cheap push around corded vac.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Another one I remember from a few years ago. I was coming out of my pole barn for the night through the overhead doorway. It was a light fiberglass door, so with a good yank on the rope I could get it to slam shut and latch. Not tonight, it stopped about 2’ above the cement. Now the rope is too...

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

About a month back I was out cutting my grass. Every few weeks I move my Johnboat and trailer out of the way to cut underneath. I go to move trailer, tires flat, and bead broke away from rim. Hmmm….I go into the shop and get a lighter, can of starting fluid, and my air tank. I spray a good...

From SW Wisconsin. Been lurking a little, figured I’d join in.

I’m a member over on the HAMB, so had heard about this site, but finally made it over here. I’m a car guy as a hobby, did it for a living while younger, and my 20 year old back felt like I was 70 already. So I switched gears, and was in the commercial printing industry for over 30 years. Now...
