    School Suggestions

Likely not engineering...I think he's looking at schools that specialize in installation and design type stuff. Like the sparky end of stuff. Likely need him to narrow it down before I can help, but we all know how kids are. Thanks for all the advice!

    School Suggestions

I know there is a wide and varied amount of knowledge here. I have a 17 y.o. son who does really well in school. High GPA. I've tried to get him to follow me in the military, no dice. He scored 77 on his Asvab for Electrical. He's got my post 9/11 GI Bill to use. He's looking at electrical...

My Southeast Ohio 30 by 40

Big trip to town! Hate going there any more. Grew up in/around Columbus. Now live south of Zanesville. Wife and I joke about any big trip to "town" to visit family.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT ZMotorsports Home and 50x60x16 Shop/RV Garage

Fantastic start!! It'll start crankin right along now!! I picked up a couple great tips on the drainage situation, as I too am currently moving drain tile when I mow. Meh. Temporary fix. As for the slingers, I used to work with them daily in a previous life. A talented operator eliminates 80%...

    When to backfill?

As an aside, I would suggest putting stone in front of and behind the entry wall. It's something we would always do to eliminate compaction / cracking after final grading. Might help with the sand, which will compact until it sinks.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Doing things our way. 50x100 house/shop

Love your build! I've followed since the beginning, and enjoyed every post! You mentioned you had roughly 11 acres... My wife and I bought 12.5 last year and love it. Just curious about the lay of the land. Any rough dimensions of the property? My wife and I bought 2 parcels side by side. 5.5...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Zeph's Quasi WWII Era Shop

FYI...There is still a 94th Aero Squadron in Columbus, Ohio that I first went to as a child. They no longer have the live feed from the towers, but the WWII vibe is still there. Great place to visit!

    The Marshall Garage Project

Our exposed gas line at work is painted the same as the walls. Simple labels every so often explain which is which. Great work on the garage!

The Green Barn - Recycled 48' x 60' Pole Barn

Great update! Glad to see the progress! That floor will hold most anything! It'll be there for years! I was hoping I didn't end up as a thread killer!

    The Concrete Underground

I agree it's been a while, but sometimes life happens... Hard to say. I wish him the best! He hasn't been around lately, but I'm sure he'll chime in when he's ready. Last Activity: 12-08-2014 11:31 AM

    My new Electric Ceiling Heater

I think I found the noise issue in the heater! The Fan blade fell off! Reinstalled with some loctite and it's much quieter! Although it seems I have vibration now...Hmmm. Just a heads up for anyone who ends up with a lemon!

    My new Electric Ceiling Heater

I'll see what happens. It's a trial run, Still checking of temps and operation. Overall I'm pleased. However it's still warm outside at 50'. Garage has come up 10'. Not too shabby!

    My new Electric Ceiling Heater

Anyone have one of these heaters that makes a lot of noise? Sounds like the fan rubbing. The motor spins at different speeds and causes different noises. I'll tear it apart if needed. Just curious. Just hooked mine up tonight for the first time.

Let's see a picture of your workbench - Right Now!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with multiple projects going! With summer coming to a close, and fall quickly on its way, I've been spending alot of time outside enjoying instead of working in the garage.

    The Concrete Underground

2nd post, I would say something in between "simmer down" and "piss off". He's got quite a bit on his plate. He'll get around to it. Kudos for the progress!

The Green Barn - Recycled 48' x 60' Pole Barn

I love this build because I did alot of construction work "in the area"... Which means I may or may not know where this shop is... Or if you can see it from the road, if you look. I'm hooked for updates! (Not in a creepy way!)
