Old Doerr USA (Dayton) bench grinder bearing replacement

There is a debate about spin-down after the grinder is shut off. Many feel that long spin downs indicate that the bearings are in good condition and the grinder is well balanced. Others feel that the bearings are dry and need to be replaced or regreased. The grinding noise indicates that the...

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

That's a tiny hole, I wonder if it would actually work? I'm thinking a small, directed squirt of Super Super Slick Stuff once every few years would be a lot easier and more effective. Thoughts?

Mine was packed full of grease, too when I restored it https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/11b30b4s-vintage-classic-craftsman-drill-press-information-thread.484456/page-9#post-11281238 I ended up cleaning it out during the restore, but didn't see the point of it. Still, I put a light...

I usually buy from MRO Supply https://www.mrosupply.com. I always pick the Bestorq (made in USA). Total prices are usually cheaper than any other place I've found and they ship directly from factory (so belts are fresh). ex: AX35 vbeltsforless Price & shipping $15.86 + tax...

    Anyone know what this is?

I bought an old Delta wood lathe and this was in the box with all the accessories. I am wondering if anyone knows what this is? Is it an accessory for the lathe or was it something else that the seller thought went with the lathe, but doesn't. Note: it has indexed numbers going around the whole...

Delta Lathe - What is this for?

OK, I get it now. It locks the piece in the lathe at a specific spot so you can use another instrument (plane, router, etc) to form horizontal patterns. Thanks all!

I always buy my belts from MRO Supply, I always order the Bestorq brand (priced right and made in USA not China) and MRO offers free shipping on belts. Like Frank, I prefer the cogged (AX) belts, too. (Note, the inner diameter is usually 2" less, many give an outer diameter, so a 29" belt would...

I restored a 150 a few months ago, and the gasket was broken. I had bought a box of O-rings at Harbor Freight years ago (not sure if they still have). I just used one of these that fit, works great. Note: it's an O not flat, but still worked fine

I think I used Super Clean, but I'd imagine the parts cleaner solvent you have should work fine.

FrankLee is correct. I just restored one of the motors a few days ago. The bearings were open with an inner race. I just dunked them in a degreaser for a day or two, took them out, cleaned off the degreaser, repacked and they were fine.

Can not tell by the photos, but another thing to check on all three are if the springs (that retracts the quill up) are working. They don't make those springs anymore.

The 100 has the pivoting / angle table while the 150 has the fixed table.

I prefer the look without the cover, but that is obviously an individual thing. I am wondering where you get one of those magnetic key holders, though.
