How do you fasten down trusses?

I would think the cap board would need to be attached to some sort of steel stap thats embedded under the top row of blocks. Not much block construction around here these days so I've never had a chance to look at one up close. I guess if you were filling the blocks with concrete you could use...

Pvc Pipe Or Copper For Air Line?

I'm sure it will last longer than SCH 40, but the things that cause SCH 40 to fail will most likely make the 80 fail as well. Heat, cold, vibration, & pressure fluctuations will probably eventually kill it.

    Brazing v. soldering

Below 800°F is considered soldering. Common Lead/Tin solder melts at a little over 360°.

    My construction begins.

That looks like a monolithic slab. Footers are usually poured first and then blocked around here. My house is built on a monolithic slab it has a 20" deep footer incorperated around the perimiter and all the way around the garage and porches. The footer has a double row of rebar through it and...

That's just 2 or 3 buckets stacked together, but I'd fall off the first time I looked up. :scared:

    drywall/gyprock

When the drywall was hung in my new house recently I expected to see a lift on-site, but instead all the guys had were a bunch of 5-gallon buckets. The drywall crew stacked enough buckets together to make a "stool" that was about 3' high. One guy would climb on top of the buckets and another...

Occasionally Heating and Cooling attached Garage.

I knew I should have asked the framers to leave an opening for a window or two, but the plans didn't show one and the house is already over-budget so we stuck to the plan.:( The house was nearly finished before I even considered AC for the garage. If I had I would have had the outside wall...

Occasionally Heating and Cooling attached Garage.

I've heard the same thing. I wanted to go bigger, but the HVAC guy talked me out of it. Every house I've lived in around this part of the country has had the reccomended size unit and they all struggle to keep things cool during the summer. When I built this house I knew from the start I was...

still tryin to figure this out..

Man all this talk has me jonesing to get the power hooked up in my garage. The original plan was for a 24' x 24' space with two 4' two-bulb lights. That seemed insufficient so I upgraded to two 4' four-bulb lights. I also lost 4' of floor to the house somewhere along the way:headscrat, so I...

Occasionally Heating and Cooling attached Garage.

It is less than 1 ton over reccomended and I tend to work an AC unit hard. I like it really cool inside during the cooling season. Even though it is a little oversized it is still gonna get a workout.

Nevermind. I forgot about Carbon Monoxide. :lol_hitti Perhaps I can add a separate unit sometime in the future.

Occasionally Heating and Cooling attached Garage.

Hi Guys, I'm new here. I don't even have a garage now. Mine is still under construction. We are building a new house that will have an attached 20' x 24' garage. I had not even considered AC or heat until now. Unfortunately the house is nearly finished. Has anyone used their existing house...

Securing stainless sink in workbench cutout

Perhaps some 5200 adhesive from your local marine supply store would do the trick. Put a big bead on the bottom of the sink and set it into place. Not only will it hold, but it you will have to pry the sink up if you ever want to remove it. It's like caulk, but more adhesive.
