Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

Then you really shouldn't be giving advice or commenting about a topic that you don't know anything about. I mean, you certainly can... but it's obvious to others who do know about the topic..... You might think it's funny to knowingly post BS info in a thread but someone else could potentially...

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

Oh, gotcha... That length of time is typically set by the operator of the machine. Most shops (NOT ALL) cut this time down to the bare minimum (or less) because time IS money. When I do A/C in my home shop I run the vacuum pump for roughly an hour.... sometime 45 minutes..... but I've ran...

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

When our family was in the commercial HVAC business, our service guys used 30 pound tanks of refrigerant AS IF it was a tank of compressed air. If they needed to blow the dust or cotton seed out of a condensing coil, (for example) they used a hose with a blow gun attached to an R22 tank. It...

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

Right.... but according to "theoldwizard1" nobody uses nitrogen for testing A/C system in the automotive world.

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

If your A/C system can't hold a vacuum for even 10 minutes then there is absolutely NO WAY the system will hold refrigerant. If the A/C machine won't hold a vacuum, then it needs to be repaired. It's hard to properly fix broken cars with broken tools.

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

It's obvious you don't know much about this topic but you still couldn't stop yourself from dropping a smart *** comment. lol. That's fine. This is a discussion forum. You're welcome to post a comment in any thread on this entire site. But when you make youself look silly, don't be suprised...

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

You don't know much about auto A/C do you? "Pull a vacuum down to (?)" "You are lucky if they hold that vacuum for longer than 10 minutes !"

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

Yeah, don't get me wrong... A micron gauge will not help you FIND a leak like nitrogen will, it just helps you know IF you have a leaky system before charging with refrigerant.

Looking to get a micron gauge for auto a/c

I've used a micron gauge along with my normal manifold gauge set to charge automotive A/C for 20+ years now..... Sure, it's true that pressure loads a seal differently than vacuum and some leaks can't be noticed while performing a vacuum leak down test with just your standard manifold gauges...

Why are spark plug tools 3/8 drive?

Well, you are right, that is the main reason.... but having the right tools is a nice side bennefit. lolol. 😂

What I learned in Mini Split Installation

I disagree..... If I am perfectly capable of starting up a mini split system for the first time (vacuum, leak check, charge refrigerant, monitor pressures, etc.) why would I pay someone else to do it? Don't take this the wrong way, but..... just because you're not capable of doing this job...

    Lost a good friend today...

Yep.... or you can also try Zoro.com which is a subsidiary of Grainger. They offer free shipping on anything over over $50 bucks, otherwise small orders are only $5 bucks for basic USPS ground shipping. If I order early in the day, most orders are on my front door steps by noon the next day...

Why are spark plug tools 3/8 drive?

Use whatever drive size you want to use. Nobody is stopping you. I've noticed several threads on this site over the years where the person actually sounds offended by certain drive size tools. This isn't the first thread where someone was questioning why most people use certain drive sizes for...

Generator size needed to start my 2.5 ton a/c

You bumped a two year old thread to give misleading information.... A 2,000 - 4,000 watt generator will NOT start the 2.5 ton A/C unit that is mentioned in post number one of this thread. This is NOT an RV A/C unit. We're talking about a residential A/C unit that runs on 240 volts and draws...

How long has your AC/furnace lasted?

Our original furnace lasted 55 years (1955 - 2010) The central A/C unit lasted 39 years (1971 - 2010) In fact, the A/C unit was still keeping the house cool right up until the contractor switched it off for the last time on the morning they replaced the HVAC system in my house. Both the...

    How can this be?

I got news for you..... that already happened 30+ years ago. lolol. Things have changed again nowadays but back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90's, our family owned two (at the same time) commercial HVAC companies with between 50 - 300 employees each. In the 90's we had to bid jobs at COST just...

Does Gearwrench have an entry level quality?

Hey, if you like GW tool, then buy GW tools. More power to you.... I don't care for them. Everything I've tried from GW (except the very first sets of wrences that I bought from them 15-20 years ago) has been mediocre. I don't mind spending more on high quality tools...
