Picked up some Malco's as well as a couple smaller Irwin's. Man those Malco's are shiny! A couple Bahco adjustable wrenches and a pair of Wilde hose clamp pliers. Also a pair of Milbar safety wire pliers.

Thanks! I debated whether to go with a set with uniform handles or these with various sizes. The cost for US made sets primarily drove my decision.

Starting the unboxing and cataloging: Picked up a bunch of socket, screwdriver and pliers storage options. Wanted to try the different manufacturers (Ernst, Ares, Tekton, Olsa) and see what works best before committing to a specific system. This is directly because of my newfound hatred of the...

This is what close to six months of tool orders looks like! 😜 One of the fun things of making a trip back to the US after being away. It's like Christmas because I've forgotten everything I've ordered. 😂

    Broke……..🤬 (Snap on) Update 8/8/2023

I was very disappointed by this thread title. I was expecting information about personal finances because of Snap-On purchases! 😆 Best of luck to OP to get these replaced!

Which Socket Brand or Brands if Starting From Scratch?

On the plus side I found a good use for my SK 7635 lock ring pliers. The straight tips fit perfectly in the clips and enabled me to expand them to fit on the rail.

Which Socket Brand or Brands if Starting From Scratch?

Just picked up some Proto metric sockets and a set of Torx bit sockets to replace some Craftsman. Very pleased with the finish so far with the exception of the socket rails. Wasn't thrilled at all to put the clips on the rails and it is literally painful to lock in some of the smaller sockets...

Finally decided to upgrade some of my sockets. Been taking a closer look at one of my local Proto dealers and with a recent sale, the pricing looked good enough to pull the trigger. Took over a month to arrive, but I wasn't going to push. 1/4" drive metric 6 point sockets 4mm to 14mm - no...

Small shipment from the liquidator. Mostly 1/4" drive torx socket bits plus three spare carbide blades for the Rennsteig scraper. Allowed me to complete the torx set.

Additional tools came in from the liquidator. Gor a set of Knipex hog ring pliers, a set of electronics mounting pliers, and an insulated T20 torx screwdriver. Also grabbed two more Rennsteig 15mm wide carbide scrapers and a 30mm wide one with replaceable blades. Some more Wera sockets...

It varies greatly for sure! I felt $5 or less was a value purchase. The ones with the ball detents tend to be less robust in the small sizes according to @American Locomotive , which was interesting info for sure.

Yep! This and eBay were my unofficial guides. If the pricing wasn't significantly better for a socket I didn't buy it. Also, I'd the price was above the local equivalent of $5 I didn't buy it unless I really wanted it for myself. If I'm going to pick up duplicates, I wanted them to be...

It's a new "reverse logistics" e-commerce site in the middle east called Cartlow. I don't know if they ship to the US or not (my guess would be that they don't). Their operating model seems to be somewhat similar to overstock.com. I think I've done a pretty good job picking up the best tool...

Picked up a bunch of random Wera sockets in 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4" drive. Torx, hex and some 6 and 12 point sockets. This is one of those things where the pricing is so good, you don't want to let these go to waste. I've got some more coming in over the next week and then I'm going to see where...

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

My question is how do these pliers work? The Knipex are serrated on the adjustment channel, as are the HF ones. The craftsman ones look to be smooth... What are they grabbing on to provide resistance?

    Tools from the old world

A little closer look at the Rennsteig punches and chisels I just picked up. Pin punches from 2mm to 12mm. Taper punches in assorted sizes from 2mm-12mm and some assembly punches. Some rivet setters/holders. Nowhere near a full set but could be useful in the future. And some...

Is it "new tools score" or "new tool scores"? 😀 In either case, just picked up a bunch of Rennsteig tools and a few bits of Wera and Knipex - all at obscenely low pricing, to the point I couldn't decide at first whether it was a scam. Up first, Rennsteig crimper and an extra die set. The...
