    200 amp question

PRESENT ELECTRICAL Good afternoon. Background: If we stay here, which is to be decided yet, we will want to upgrade the main panel from 100 amps to 200 amps. The present meter and panel is an exterior GE panel from 1979, 125 amp with 100 amp service. The electrical company has a vault on...

Can I plumb two 60 gallon compressors together?

I have a 125PSI sytem and a 150 PSI system. Both the tanks are tied together with quick disconnects. Both are set to the lower pressure - acutally about 120 PSI.

    Torque wrench storage settings

^^^^ What Bill and others wrote. According to the Torque Channel, his testing of wrenches left on higher settings shows that the calibration will be off. The longer it was left, and the higher it was set to will both weaken the spring. If we are talking 10 days, the change would be minor. If...

My Shop Internet Service Plan - Advise please

cat 5, 5e and 6 is good up to 330'. I worked on a cisco certification once. It was all command line driven. Maybe some have gui interfaces. All one needs is a good switch to share the home Internet with the shop. These days given a choice between rural copper DSL providers and starlink, Starlink...

Suggestions for Replacement Mesh WiFi Router System

There are quite a few new network hacks out there right now that exploit various brands. The symptoms can be drop outs. Choose carefully. Also, I would manually update the present router to be sure you have the most recent firmware for it. Change the password too.

    Shelter for my hobbies

just make sure your drainage and soil where you will build is perfect before doing anything else. So many people overlook those in a rush, thinking it will be "good enough," then have to remediate it later.

    Organized my 3/8" socket drawer

what you have done is awesome, and sure you will be able to find anything now. The issue I have when trying to think thru solutions like that, is that most things I buy need some speciality tool that I lack. Everytime I try to organize in a hard coded solution like that, months later some new...

    Detailed load calculator (attic storage)

that facy just makes it all the more important to choose what is available now rather than trying to be perfect in the tonage you need. If you get a deal on a 1.5 ton vs a 1 ton consider grabbing it. The worst that can happen is you set the thermostat higher, and the temperature spread before it...

how does that affect the difference between a 1 ton and 1 .5 ton unit?

    Detailed load calculator (attic storage)

prices on units are going to be influenced by the most common sized units. If a person were to look for say a .64 ton or say .78 ton unit then they might exist but the lack of numbers sold of those unit custom sizes would drive the price way up. Whereas a 1.5 or 2 ton unit might be so common the...

    Detailed load calculator (attic storage)

most likely the calculator will assume the usual 72F to 78F set temp. You may have to guess, unless a neighbor has the exact same set up. We have a 1400 sq ft house. On a 105F degree day in the California Central Valley, a 2 1/2 ton Carrier R22 AC could just barely keep up in the afternoon. It...

    AC line Insulation

as others suggested, you can paint the insulated line to help protect it from the sun. Or, you can replace the insulation in 10 years. It will deteriorate even with paint but much slower. As others pointed out, the insulation keeps the line from sweating.

    Pneumatic Floor Jack Recommendation?

I guess it all depends who makes the rubber. If it splits, will come down instantly. That would be my only concern. You can't outrun gravity. It wins every time.

Bonding Neutral in sub panel confirmation

Definately this is how it should be handled right away. If it is overhead let them confirm that no squirrel, rat or corrosion is causing issues. Eliminate them as the cause. The science of it may be that a connection common to both the AC and Lights (plural) is loose, has resistance, and /or...

    Nut selection for carburetor repair

I would avoid nylocks. If the nuts grab the studs you may start having issues with the studs backing out instead of the nuts. The issue is that no one making these type carbs ever thought that people would still be using them for 30 -40 years on some model sportcars.

    What's the minimum stud spacing for a 12 x 12 storage shed?

also might depend on whether you plan on insulating it someday. Most of the big box stores here only stock 15.25" wide R-13 batts.
