new professional grade harbor freight ratchets

bulletpruf: I've only got the 1/4 and 3/8 (just picked up the 1/4 last week) in composite. I love both. Don't use 1/4 drive ratchets often, but wow is it nice when it's cold out. my 3/8 composite is my go-to from october through march

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Central pneumatic 3/8 air ratchet, pass. Lower torque than a snap on I had borrowed once, but again looking at the price point.... Beyond good value. Wish it had more than a 90 day warranty, but still, not bad for $15 after coupon. Awesome for radiator, water pump (after bolts broken loose)...

    Quick release or not?

I have a craftsman flex head that is QR, and I don't like the handle, but the button had never gotten in my way that I can remember Sent from my MotoE2 using Tapatalk

    Quick release or not?

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking I'll grab the QR. I have a hard time pulling small sockets off when they, me, or both are grease covered. With Snap On I get the student discount, so I'm looking at 60-65 dollars. I like my long handle dual 80 so I figure I'll like the flex handle too. Sent from...

    Quick release or not?

I'm looking to get a long handle. Comfort grip snap on 3/8 drive ratchet, and I can get the quick release or non... It's only a $5 difference for me, so price isn't the issue. Most every ratchet I own isn't quick release, but I'm considering getting that one to make removing small sockets...

Craftsman sockets U.S. made vs China made

The chrome seems closer to Pittsburgh than to the old craftsman I got from my dad. However I'm no plating expert and that could just be wear, or changes in plating technology over the years... I'm glad to have old US Made stuff from my dad, flea markets, etc. Sent from my MotoE2 using Tapatalk

Moving to the country, any words of wisdom?

My guess is because it's full of mechanically inclined people. People generally good at maintaining and fixing things. Sent from my MotoE2 using Tapatalk

That's cheaper than harbor freight! You may have already known, but for those who werebt aware, a 7 piece Pittsburgh set is 19.99 with a coupon Sent from my MotoE2 using Tapatalk

Does anyone else HATE socket holder strips/rails?

Those look great! Better than my loose, rattly Harbor freight plastic ones now. Ratchet/extension storage isn't an issue with my particular bag, but it's nice to have that option. And if I do decide to, that extension holder is a nice feature Sent from my MotoE2 using Tapatalk

looking for 3/8" and 1/2" drive socket sets

Also, a bit pricey for your range, but a great deal is this 1/2" shallow set from Armstrong http://www.armstrongtools.com/hot-deals/armstrong-15-561-15-pc-1-2-drive-6-point-socket-set-with-plastic-socket-rail.html I don't think it'll fit your budget exactly, but if you can swing it, they're great!

looking for 3/8" and 1/2" drive socket sets

I've been surprisingly impressed by pittsburgh sockets from Harbor Freight. Up until the last 6 months or so when I started collecting snap on, SK, Mac and old Craftsman from flea markets, they and Kobalt have served me great. A buddy of mine who, while an electrician by trade, owns a clunker...

Does anyone else HATE socket holder strips/rails?

I meant to post this here, ended up posting it in the gearwrench hot deals thread because i have too many tabs open and don't pay attention....:eyecrazy: Can anybody recommend a system for storing sockets in a tool bag? It seems like the plastic clip rails are my best option that I'm aware...

Thanks! I also realized I meant to put this in a different thread....woops. Had too many tabs open on my computer, haha. I use HF metal rails at home now and a few craftsman ones. I'd have to trim them down to fit my bag, but they're a dollar, so I won't feel bad for cutting them Sent from my...

Can anybody recommend a system for storing sockets in a tool bag? It seems like the plastic clip rails are my best option that I'm aware of. They're ok, but I'd like something a bit sturdier/more organized if there's a product out there. Unfortunately most of my mechanical work happens...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Any opinion on the flex head ratchets? I have the 1/4" and it hardly gets used but is nice when it does. I know a 3/8 or 1/2 would get used a lot more than the 1/4 I have. Are they worth it or should I just wait and save for something that locks or has detents? Sent from my MotoE2 using Tapatalk

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Just about every HF socket I've gotten is like that, haha. Once saw a lady come out of there with one of the trailer hitch baskets, a ratchet and a socket set to assemble it right there in the parking lot with her young children running around the van. Loaned her a pair of channel locks out of...

Harbor Freight - 1/2 Extendable Ratchet

So the 1/2" drive professional ratchet, with the red and black handle, is excellent! Used one very hard this weekend pulling a 318 out and putting a 'new' one in to a 92 dodge w150. It took cheater pipes, my 250 lb body mass, being kicked to remove fasteners a few times, being thrown across the...
