I've got old Allen brand sets from my dad, love them. Can't speak to any other maker's quality though, but I was checking out the SK bit sockets and I'd be curious to see if anybody has any experience with them

Thanks everyone! I'm going to try more anodes spaced on three sides of my container first, and maybe higher current later. I've got a lot more wrenches and sockets to go so if I can finish sooner, I'll be happier

Just got the rebuild kit into my sk45170 (diamond logo, so, old) , feels better than a new craftsman. The old internals I had for the ratchet functioned fine, but i ll use the rebuild kit and if I ever retire the ratchet or want to make a display piece, I'll put the original back in. [emoji3]...
EdT: Thank you! I did notice that the wrench closest to the anode cleaned up quickest... perhaps I'll put anodes on 3 sides of my rectangular container. and see if I can dig up one of my 12v 850 milliamp chargers I have numerous of. Now to find what box they wound up in during the move....
Fretters: by slow, I mean it took 7-8 hours to clean up 3 open ended wrenches (approx 4" long) only one of which had rust on it's entire surface. the other two were perhaps 30% covered in rust?
If this is as fast as it can go, I have no problem with that. However if say a higher current...
So I'm sure some folks on here use electrolysis to remove rust from old steel objects. I've got a question, does using a higher voltage or higher current power supply make any significant impact on the speed of the reaction? I'm currently using a 15volt, 435 milliamp power supply and wondered if...
Perhaps this is better, that's the best screen cap I seem to be able to get. And At this point I figure I'll probably abandon the thread, since it seems not so many people find the same humor in it that I do.
I love customer service done right. Can't say I've ever had that at my local sears unfortunately... But I have at Ace hardware and a few other small shops.

Anyways, I've just been generally displeased with sears in general. Online ordering never gets done properly for pick up at my local store. The appliance and tool departments have had horrid customer service in store (housewares seems OK for the most part) and the website is organized...
So... Sears, you seriously ****. Anybody get what's wrong with this picture from the Sears website? I'm no pro....but... something tells me a few of these items aren't compatible :headscrat
I've always used whatever is on hand and not horribly expensive. Started out using white lithium since my dad gave me a tub of the stuff and I had no use for it (apparently some buy one get one free deal). However after about a week of light use in my 1/2" wright round head ratchet it got all...
I personally only own one ratchet of each, and no sockets from either :/ I own 1/2" armstrong ratchet and a set of metric box wrenches (love them both!) and an old 3/8 SK I got at a flea market. All my sockets are currently Kobalt and Pittsburgh, but I'm gradually replacing them with flea market...
16 with a 17th on the way shortly :). 3 craftsman, 4 harbor freight, 1 Armstrong, 2 Wright, 1 sk, 1 Bonney, 1 Williams, 1 kobalt, 1 Stanley, 1 proto, and a snap on hopefully arriving soon!

My new beauties! The bonney, while wear-worn on the outside... Looks brand new inside. A little tarnishing, but almost zero wear on any of the internals!

My dad gave me a lot of his old craftsman to get me started, anything he had triples or quadruples of.... I got. Even an old craftsman hand tool box (19" long i think). Following my dad's advice, I started to look at buying craftsman myself, new, from sears. Without even looking at the country...
I've got them both torn apart and cleaned now, just waiting on A: inspiration as to how to remove the well adhered plasti-dip **** from the bonney.... and B: to go out tomorrow and buy a tube o' superlube, as the tube I had disappeared in the recent change of homes my family did. can't wait to...
