What have you bought for you garage that you "had to have" that you never use?

Re: What have you bought for you garage that you "had to have" that you never use? Plastic trim and molding tool set for auto interiors. That's all I can think of. I recently moved and some stuff I never use got purged.

    work benches... from scratch

I think the kit is worth it if conventional workbench is your goal. Of course you can monkey with the design as much as you wish. The kit was $35 on sale at Home Depot (the link is in this thread somewhere). It came with all the corner braces and 200 of their awesome screws. Buy whatever...

Bought the wood and went to work this afternoon. 4 hours and very little cussing later it is complete. A little bland, but ready for add-ons. Maybe a drawer and flip-up work surface extension. Top is doubled 23/32" exterior plywood glued and screwed. It's 72x24x42. This is the first work...

    Lets talk security and cameras

I've installed two Q-See DVR systems and they work well for the cost. I didn't pick them out, but I didn't notice any deficiencies. Can get them at Costco or elsewhere online. http://www.costco.com/Common/Category.aspx?cat=4802&eCat=BC|79|4802&lang=en-US&whse=BC

Gloves, what do you wear in the shop?

I've had some padded Black & Decker orange/black gloves for over 2 years. They were on sale cheap at the hardware store, like $8 so I picked them up. I use them for all my yard work and all my non-liquid garage work. For liquid work (oil, coolant, etc) I find it's easier to clean my hands...

Don't see a whole lot of peg board....

Tool chests.. But I do also have a 6x4 pegboard on one wall to hang ext. cords, welding helmets, ear/eye protection, tape measure, levels, second screwdriver set - things that would take up too much space in a drawer or are needed very regularly. Keeps the woman out of my tool chest drawers "I...

    work benches... from scratch

This is what I've come up with based on the Simpson Strong Tie KWB1 kit. I really wanted a half shelf so I would have the ability to pull up a chair and/or store taller items on one side. But then I added a 12" deep shelf on that side for a little extra storage "just in case". On the full...

Home Depot has an Internet special sale on the Simpson Strong Tie workbench kit KWB1 at $35 right now so I went ahead and ordered one tonight. The brackets and screws would have been well over $60 purchased separately.
