Already Posted do a search (Theory)

I can see both sides. However, when I first joined GJ, I had a truckload of questions (and many of those spawned others), but instead of filling up threads with them, I read alot of what was already posted. I spent a good deal of time in the evenings reading GJ - questions were answered and...

36' wide by 34' deep garage started!

***** about the roof, we did have some unusual storms blow through. You're a few hours NE of me, I'm from the Binghamton area - actually, halfway between Bing. and Oneonta. I want to get out that way when they have that big car show/cruise up in Lake George. Very familier with the 2000 and up...

How old is this Fluke 88?

Random thoughts: Most Flukes that I've seen will say "True RMS" somewhere on the face of the meter if they are. Does it really matter for the average Joe, I dunno...... It'll still be a fine meter. Looks like this is the Automotive version, so it's geared more toward the 12VDC environment...

    32x40 Finally getting my Garage

Awesome! Appreciate the detailed pics..... I'm planning the exact floor layout and I might steal your radiant pipe plan :D thanks for sharing the numbers too, it's good to see things cost more in NY! Questions: Is that vinyl siding? There are two pads? (and you mention a sidwalk too) Thats'...

    Bumper repair - Plastic welding

Recently bought a kit from Urethane supply..... top quality tool! I repaired many mounting tabs on a 90cc four wheeler I picked up for the 6yr old. Sinking the screen material into the plastic makes for a super strong bond.

Hire out or diy this welding job?

Don't know what a shop would charge, but there's a bit of extra labor since they are already powdercoated. Coating will have to be sanded/ground off in the area of the weld, and heat from weld will likley burn adjacent coating. Also, if tubes have to be 1/4 apart, can there be a spacer...

    Upgrading panel to 200A

How old is the house panel? Match the shop panel to that and only keep one style of breaker on hand. SquareD Homeline is very popular, inexpensive, no frills. Thier QO series is higher grade (more expensive), and the breakers have trip indicators. Seems, by me anyway, every hardware store no...

36' wide by 34' deep garage started!

Just stumbled across your build thread... very nice!! It's like a second house!! Whereabouts in NY are you? Is that a Silverado SS?

    The Concrete Underground

I thought passing the Pex through some PVC sweeps was a nice touch to help renforce the tubing as it exits the slab. Gonna keep that in mind for my build. I was surprised to see, at least what I gathered from the pictures, that it appears the radient tubing was not pressurized during the pour.

    Upgrading panel to 200A

Didn't mention what your old panel is, but maybe it's one of the undesirables...... thinking Fed Pacif. here. So upgrading in that case would be a no brainer. I'd look at it this way too, you may not need the extra amperage capability, but you'll surely benifit from the added spaces of the 200A...

    HF mover's dollies

Same here! Saw the thread the other night, was in the store yesterday and said what the hell...... Good tip on the loose hardware, I could see in mine some of the locks weren't compressed. Watch the overtightening, HF stuff doesn't exactly use quality grade hardware.

    DARN Hansen socket organizers!!!!

Wow, you can almost see the OCD dripping down the walls in here..... :D Sometimes wish I could force myself to organize to that level. Hats off to you all. But now, with all them sockets neat and tidy in there, do you grab a single socket that you need (assuming you KNOW the size required)...

GFI / Outlet Problem - Help!

I was just simply wondering if the hot swap was what tripped GFCI in the first place, or there was something else going on. I do hot work as well, but usually only if nessesary. Drive safely! :D

    F'in 4-H Electric 3 Project Fail

Hmmm, strange. Is the clamping plate still in the little cage.... mabe the defective terminal was missing it from the get go?? :dunno: If the screw is still hard to turn even with no pressure on it, then its been cross threadded or threads weren't formed right when it was made. Why would they...
