Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

What might make sense would be to put a service loop into the run that will connect the kitchen and living room so that I could separate them if necessary by leaving enough slack to run it into a junction box.

Any reason to not use 12/3 to get power to a 2nd light?

I just wasn't sure if there was something in the NEC that said "No you cannot do this even though it makes perfect sense" :) Thanks.

    Ceiling fan mount question

To use those I would need to build the side of the engineered joists out so that there is something for it to nail into. I need to double check how close it is to a stud because I might be able to offset it down with a piece of ferring and then mount a box in place. I found some at HD that...

    Ceiling fan mount question

That sounds like you used the retro kit that would be used for existing ceilings. How low did that end up going and did it clear the drywall?

    Ceiling fan mount question

    The bottom of the mount needs to be flush with the bottom of the drywall. _ _ | | | | | | | | <- Joists - - =============== <- 3/4" Ferring strip ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <- 1/2" Drywall most of the mounts I...

    Ceiling fan mount question

Does anybody know of a ceiling fan mount for new construction that takes into account the offset of both 3/4" ferring strips AND 1/2 drywall? Most of the ones I have found only take the drywall into account and don't have a height adjust for the ferring strips. I could attach some 2x6's to the...

Hitatchi NR90AF or Bostitch N80SB framing nailer

Well I want to stick with 28 degree nails so that I can share between friends who also have 28 degree wire nailers. Thats the only reason really. I had to drop my friends Bostitch off for repair and it sounded like the shop doesn't deal with that many Bostitch guns. The Bostitch one I was...

Any reason to not use 12/3 to get power to a 2nd light?

I need to run power to two closet lights which are on two separate switches. Right now I have power going to S1: S2 L1 L2 S1 Is there anything to keep me from running 12/3 to L1 then 12/2 from L1 to S2 so that Im running hot over either the black or red...

Hitatchi NR90AF or Bostitch N80SB framing nailer

The Hitachi that I am looking at is only 7.3lbs so its actually lighter than some of the others and can shoot either clipped head or round head nails. That Max is interesting, I am going to need to take a look at them, thanks.

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

I don't know if it is against code but having two separate circuits within one box has always been, to me and my FIL, a bad idea because you are then never positive if everything is dead in the box by throwing a breaker.

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

Im usually the one doing the yelling for leaving lights on :) I am definitely thinking that I will put MOST of the lights on the single breaker but leave the one entry way canister and outside light on the 20amp circuit that I use for 1/2 the living room outlets

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

I could separate off the outside light and one of the canister lights onto a separate 20amp outlet circuit. That would drop some of the load off of the lighting breaker.

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

It is within the 80% constant usage for a 15amp breaker as it is with all known future use taken into account. Any additional fixtures could go on a separate circuit or one of the other existing circuits.

Hitatchi NR90AF or Bostitch N80SB framing nailer

I am looking at these two nailers because they take the same 28° nails as a friends gun so that we can share cases of nails around. Does anybody have experience with either one?

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

One of the reasons I wanted it all on a single circuit was that I have a 3 gang box which has 2 switches for the living room lights and a 3way for the kitchen canisters. If they were all on the same circuit then I don't have to track down any separators for the box itself. I am also blowing...

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

I am actually running out of ceiling area to run lights. I should include the potential future ceiling fan light which adds 0.83amps bringing me to 12amps including future use which puts me at 80% of the circuit. The light breakdown is as follows: One 100w light by the back door one canister...

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

9 Canister lights at max 75 watts each = 5.625 amps 2 light fixtures with 2 100 watt bulbs = 3.328 amps 1 100 watt bulb outside = 0.83 amps 1 ceiling fan around 1.5 amps for a total of 11.283. Does that sound about right since not all of the lights will be on at the same time and Im only at...

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

The 9 cans actually have a max of 75 watts. I haven't picked the other 2 lights out yet so Im not sure what they would be which is why I used 100 watts in the calc.
