    So its finally happening

if you find that chart please let me know. i had these drawings made by an architect, actually the same guy who designed our house 15 years ago. my father and i built that shed from the ground up so i'm not really looking to change it if its not absolutely needed. if it were a tuff shed i would...

    So its finally happening

hi guys, so little update. My father and i decided (for now) this this would be a good start. We had an architect come out for measurements and do a preliminary drawing which is attached. i hope your able to read it. its a very simple design which is why my dad was thinking wood structure...

    help with fence post

like others have said, use a spade bit or similar to drill out as much as you can and chip the rest. or just burn it out lol. regardless, i would replace with a galvanized post.

    Funnel/greasy item storage?

i dont use my funnels every day so i can afford to take the time to clean them up a little with brake clean and a shop towel. some of the longer ones you cant get completely clean so i also store them all in a cardboard box so that when they drip the cardboard absorbs the oil. i also put that...

    Wood stove/heater

thank you guys for all your help. i'm glad i come here first. i never thought about the permit/insurance stuff which is pretty important to me so i think i wont be going with the wood burning. will start looking into mini split or geo thermal. thanks again.

    Wood stove/heater

thank you all. def doesn't get to 2 here haha but we do see mid to low 30s. this solution would only be day use, about 6am-10pm when the fire can be maintained/watched. outside of that we will be using the heater. i've never heard of anyone here using coal, highly doubt you can even get it...

    Wood stove/heater

thats a great idea, never thought of that. i'll look into it. i'm also researching generators, something i've been wanting to get for years. we dont really have too many blackout here but the way this states grid probles are going, i dont know what the future holds.

    Wood stove/heater

here is a picture of the room taken about 30' back. the left corner is where i was thinking about installing it. the wall at the back is an exterior wall and to the right is into the rest of the house. i live on the outskirts of sacramento in a more rural area. wood isn't too hard to get. my...

    Wood stove/heater

i will get pictures shortly. i do not have any brand in mind, honestly i dont know much about them. i want it just for the heat. not worried too much about a glass front.

    Wood stove/heater

well the house gets heated regardless of what the cost is. i just see no point on heating unused space.

    Wood stove/heater

great info, thank you. this part of the roof doesnt have much of a peak. its built like a sunroom on the back of the house but its part of the house. from one side to the other id guess the pitch is about 12". i could put it on the opposite side where one wall is an interior wall if that helps...

    Wood stove/heater

so, while my shop is in the architects hands i've been looking into another project that i put aside but now that its winter, is back on my mind. we have a 5000sq/ft home which is heated with propane. we have one room down stairs that we spend most of our time in but is also one of the coldest...

Who makes the best whole house generators

that is great info on the support from Generac. thank you i do my own work so that would probably be important. each generator went for $4k i think. all of their items are as-is, no type of warranty. you can start and check anything they sell there but these are electric start and didn't have a...

    broken off exhaust flange stud

actually i just realized, if you still have the pipe on, try to get it off, this will give you access to about 1/4" of stud that you can grab with some vice grips or make it easier to weld a nut. also spray some penetrating lube on it, cant hurt.

    broken off exhaust flange stud

that stud def wont come out the top. i worked on toyotas for 10 years and every exhaust stud i saw had the stop in the center. its needs to come out the same way it went in and thats from the side that the nut was on. if you can weld a nut to it then that would be great otherwise id start...

Who makes the best whole house generators

not to hijack but my local equipment auction place always has 2-4 generac 24kw generators for auction. they usually go for 3-4k and i've been thinking about picking one up but i'm wondering why they always have a couple. i actually went to go look yesterday and they look brand new. exhaust looks...
