    The VISES of Garage Journal

Tide, That's one nice vise that dates probably from the mid 1970's or newer. It was expensive back then almost $200. They were made to last like Reeds! Paint looks pretty good now. The original paint was some funky multicolor green almost looked like a trunk paint.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

No doubt about that. It took hours to fit because they are so f'n hard. Thanks! The old handle was hammered on and bent. I machined the new one similar to how Kevin does it. Handle turned from stressproof the balls drilled and turned on a lathe then peened. -Roger

At what point are impact sockets necessary?

One of the annoying things about the cheaper sets is they skip sizes. HF metric 13 piece set skips 11mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 23mm and so on. I always seem to need the in-between sizes and I have to use a chrome socket.

    Sheepherder’s, gypsy caravan

That's a pretty cool. The carvings and remnants of brightly colored paint kind of points to a Gypsy Vardo. Where is this located?

Signed up over a year ago and thought it's about time I made my first post. I live in the Chicago area. I love vintage tools and machines, especially vises and lathes. My name Asport is from another hobby of mine fishing. I have an old Aquasport boat that my dad bought in 1977. -Roger
