    New pole barn build-question about slope

    Splitting the difference will save buying fill dirt but, if I understand correctly, one end of your floor will be below grade. Unless you do some sloping on the outside around that end, your sheeting will be in the dirt and you will have water problems inside.

    If you are still thinking about not stripping off the old shingles, check one more place before you nail on that new roof. Your insurance agent! They have some rules and regs that sometimes over rule the simple "can it be done?" answer. Much better to know before than after.:headscrat

    Standard size for a garage?

    Smaller garages are becoming the standard now. Builders try to save anywhere they can, just like any other business owner. Most people will get by OK with a 20 x 22 what with smaller cars, but for those of us that drive 3/4 ton extended cab pick-ups or SUVs, I like a 12 x 24 bay per vehicle.
