    Northern Tool Sales ?

Its kinda like Harbor Freight, maybe a little better but you really have to watch what you buy.

When were Sears best years ?

Quote: I would dream about their tools, stare at their guns, knives, watches, etc thinking it had to be the best store ever. many boys "grew up" staring a portions of the Sear's catalog I wasn't going to go there

    Snap On Warranty vs. Consumables

I would also say it depends on the dealer. I first had witnessed the best SO driver that I knew break customers worn out tools himself for warranty. He was also the only tool truck we had and we all spent lots and lots of money on his truck so he took care of us.

When were Sears best years ?

With Sears circling the toilet, one part of me says that they had it coming and the other is really sad about it. I remember when I was a kid in the 80's wearing out the Sears & Roebuck catalog admiring all the wonderful things they had. I would dream about their tools, stare at their guns...

So Matco is backordered on all ratchets

I hope not, my EZ red did just fine. Really I was doing a angle torque on a rod brg and it broke loose, the end torque was only 150 ft lbs ish. The funny thing is that it broke when the SO truck was there, I didn't say anything  I should clarify the first breaks on the SO was a detent...

So Matco is backordered on all ratchets

Bought a new Matco 1/2 flex about a month ago and and I broke a tooth in it 3 days ago and my truck guy stopped in today and put a new kit in. Hopefully this is the end of the shortage of Matco ratchets and hopefully this is not the normal for my new ratchet. I wasn't even abusing it when it...

We are getting a MAC man.

We got burned with 2 Snap On guys in a row. They would be around for a year, go broke or something and then we would be without for a year or more. The poor third in line SO dealer really had to work to gain trust again, I think it was close to 3 yrs before I bought anything from him. Wasn't...

    When did screwdrivers become consumable?

I just replaced my #2 Philips from Cornwell ( Whitte ) after it wore out over 10 yrs. I guess all tools are consumable, some quicker than others.

Is Matco or Mac ever the top?

I think the Matco tool box trumps the Snap on. I also like the Matco flex head ratchets better, you can let the head flop or lock it solid in any position. I may be wrong but the only styles of SO flex heads that I have seen are the non locking and lock only without the option of leaving it...

    Wire crimpers

If someone knows who makes the snap on crimper, u would go with that brand. I have the SO and love it.

New life for former Vise-Grip plant

That is great news for DeWitt. I hate Irwin to this day for what they did. There is not a single time when I walk through a store and see their brand and then look for a quality alternative that is made in USA . If there is no USA choice, I look for an import other than Irwin.

    Better than Snap-On...

same here, ever been in the situation where you need to cut the bolt off or the wrench off?:dunno:

    Never again Sears

I'm with fender on this one. The send it back to the factory stuff is pretty standard with any power tool, but I think Sears should have been the one doing the shipping, not the customer. It is a real store. Like my Milwaukee stuff, if I buy it from Amazon or Ebay, it is my problem, I ship it...

    universal impact sockets

You may be in a bind. I know of people that got rid of other brands and went to SO for the same reason, and they were happy with them. That was before all the pinless styles came out though.

Anyone seen a price jump like this before

Okay so with the fear that I will be crucified for this I will first say that SK are awesome USA made tools. I value USA made tools very much and have a ton of Snap On, S-K & Craftsman USA but I also have chosen Sunex and Gearwrench for some tools based on not only quality but value. Now if...

Matco box to replace Snap on box?

I have a Matco 5s and I love it. $1600 for that setup seems like a good buy to me. I doubt you could buy just the side cabinet new for 1600.
