When it rains big vises, it pours big vises....

So I just got done cleaning up that gorgeous Wilton 800S last night and still tickled and giddy over the deal I got on it. Tonight after work I'm working out in the garage cleaning up some items I'm going to list on CL, an older gent walking his dog who comes through occasionally stops and we...

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

I have a C1 mounted on a bench for several years as well. That, and along with my 5" Parker.... it wasn't like I was hurting for a nice vise. But how could I turn something like that down?!? ....i am weak.

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

She's cleaned up now. Took her completely apart, thoroughly cleaned, and relubed. Like butter.

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

Well I had already plunked down $375 to him for the anvil. I'd say he was having an pretty easy day putting some cash in his pocket. I mentioned before that it was obvious he does a lot of auction buying, then reselling. If he's willing to let that vise go for $225, ya know he's making...

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

I got it about half cleaned up after work tonight. I should have her back together and ready for the camera tomorrow. The grime was quite stubborn, and I didn't want to take any of the paint off so I wasn't going at too aggressively all at once. Looks fantastic and will clean up nicely. I...

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

....I'll have to put an extra $20 in the church plate I guess. ;)

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

Still been riding around in the back of my truck yet. ;) She is still dirty, but a good cleaning and wipedown and she will look fabulous. You can see where I rubbed the grime off the side around the casting numbers with my thumb. Original paint seems to be in generally nice shape. Some nicks...

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

Re: Wilton 800 Swivel vise! Hefty is an understatement! 250 pounds is my ballpark guess? I'll weigh it later tonight.

    Wilton 800S 8" vise!

So I went up to visit my parents in far northern Wisconsin this past weekend. When I make trips like that I usually check the local CL ads for that area to see if I might be interested in something, as long as going there anyway….. I buy and sell anvils from time to time, and noticed a CL ad...

    Prentiss vise ID help

I'm located in SE Wisconsin. Reason for selling is that I have come across larger Parker and Wilton vises I like better, so I can pass this one along to the next owner for many more decades of use. The jaws are not removable.

    Prentiss vise ID help

I have this Prentiss vise, to me it looks like the swivel jaw type but is missing the lock pin. I've had it for a very long time and got it for next to nothing way back when. I was cleaning it up with a wire brush this week in hopes of selling it. The rear jaw is frozen in place, not sure...
