Had to add my $.02, I was a union tile setter for 10yrs. Use an underlayment, it will save you a lot of future pain!! +1 for the latex modified thin set, it's a little bit tricky to get right for the average DIY that's only going to use it a few times. But it will be worth it in the long run.

Thats a good deal even if a few issues are found later. Where are you going to put the sub so that it can actually hear it?

Thanks for the input. Got the parts ordered, just went with the idea of if one goes bad no telling how long the others are going to last. Kinda like ignition coil packs, you replace one then the old ones get jealous and want to be replaced also.
