DeWalt Anti-Slip Combination Metric Wrench Set

Just picked up the last metric set. Thanks for the post. I'll just have to keep an eye out for a standard set in the future. I feel like a broken record saying how much I have been impressed with the quality to price of the Dewalt mechanics tool sets. I have some friends who are overly brand...

Whats a good place to purchase individual sockets for cheap?

Cripe Distributing , he has a good amount of Armstrong, older Kobalt, and other brands. Call him up for a shipping quote before you buy and you will get a better shipping deal or use their eBay store and ask for group shipping.

local sears - Dewalt Ratcheting Wrenches are $39.99 again

I really like the ones I bought last time these went on sale. They are made in Taiwan and look and feel high quality. I like that they are thin. I'll use non-ratcheting box wrenches when I am dealing with breaking free high torque or rusted bolts. Once broke free I'll switch back to these.

In need of a quality screwdriver set

Go to either the Cripe Distributing website or eBay store and buy a bunch of individual USA made screwdrivers from various USA manufacturers for about $2 a pop. If you buy from their website, it is best to call him up to get a shipping rate before you pay, if you use eBay just hit the button...

    Easiest quality tools to warranty

I haven't had to use it yet, but Dewalt tools have a no proof of purchase necessary they just mail you a new one warranty on their mechanic's tools. I assume if you try to warranty a lot of them they would have a problem and make you start proving it by sending the broken tool to them. Their...

    Wasps !!!

I like the ones with a build in bug zapper. You can hear them crackling and smell the burn, very satisfying.

Tool Set for the Weekend Warrior

Most of the tools that say made in USA or Taiwan will be good enough for regular work. I have a mix of older Craftsman, Kobalt, some Gearwrench and Armstrong, and Dewalt with a sprinkling of truck brands (Snap-on, Mac, et cetera); all work well. Here is a quick run down of my experiences...

    Walmart Mobil1 23.88

Well, glad I am wrong. I was just trying to look out for people. I've been burned on rebated in the past and always try to read the fine print.

Anyone Ever Shop For Tools On Ebay?

Just bought a Knipex pliers wrench on eBay. $31.50 shipped. Looking forward to getting it and seeing if they are worth the money and deserve the hype. Since there are so many people that buy large sets and break them up on eBay, you can buy a small sampling to test the waters and see if it is...

    gearwrench vs sk wrench set

I only have a handful of SK tools (mostly stuff I found during demos of buildings), but the quality of them are very nice. I own a couple small sets of Gearwrench 3/8 drives that stay in the vehicles. I quite like their ratchets. Their sockets are decent quality, but nothing special. Tool...

Re use a tool case or junk it?

I reuse metal ones; they make good tool boxes. Most of the plastic blow-molded ones are too tool specific for other uses.

why you need at least 2 of every tool

I had a gift card rebate something my aunt gave me from Radio Shack and I bought their store version of those. Look similar but have a crimper build into the back side of the hinge. They are OK and make for a decent back up. I'm sure they are worse quality than the Jonard ones. Off topic...

Anyone Ever Shop For Tools On Ebay?

All of the time. I gave up on yard sales (or at least driving out to yard sales, I still may stop at them if I drive by one while doing something else) as by the time I figured in my mileage and time they are rarely worth it. With eBay I can just do it from my home and the little extra I pay is...

    18v AND 12v tools?

I very much like my m12 tools. Not only are they more than powerful enough for anything I do, but they are considerably lighter and smaller than 18 volt tools.

The "I must be the only guy on GJ without a ____" thread.

I don't have any tools from Harbor Freight. It's not that I wouldn't buy or own them, there is just no Harbor Freight within an hour's drive of me. I would actually not mind having their impact sockets and one of the larger rolling tool boxes.

Ideas On How To Re-purpose Scissor Jacks

I saw a large homemade pig cooker that used 2 old scissor jacks to raise/lower the coals to adjust the heat. It was a slick set up.
