    The VISES of Garage Journal

So what would you do? I am moving soon and I've started to part with duplicate tools and some vises had already found new home. I was at a friends shop showing him a sharpening jig I'm developing and as I'm leaving he says I should take this with me. He has had it about 4 years and never...

Man this is a fast moving thread, I check in when I can but it's hard to comment on something posted two days ago as it might be 4 pages down. Anyway I see someone got a barber chair for a base, here is my dentist chair base. It works great and I love the ability to adjust the height. Jim

Here is an odd one that belongs to a friend of mine. Narrow screw range, but quick gross adjustment. No names to be found. Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but man does this thread move fast.

Redvise they sure do share a lot of similarities. Here is another one, I have it mounted on a piece of oak so I can take it where ever I need it like onboard a boat for example. Sorry, exposed screw. I've had this vise for a long time and it has done quite a bit of work with me. Must be...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

So here is another free to me vise. I was picking up my son from a play date about 12 years ago, the other dad said the neighbor was moving and there might be some tools in the basement. I told him to let me know if there was a vise or two and I would most likely buy them. Next time I picked my...

So I realize that a lot of the vises I have were given to me or I found them when responding to something else on Craigslist. Going for a belt grinder I came home with the swivel jaw carriage makers vise. When I got the Reed posted above I actually was buying some metal shelves (real heavy duty...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

This has been in my dads basement for as long as I can remember. I never used it, but when we cleaned out the house I found the box (he saved many things) and it said it was made in my home town. My dad was a tool and die maker so it is possible he had a hand in its manufacture. It seems pretty...
