HJE picks government surplus tool hoard

SK Yeah, I had pretty much figured out that was Jori but I had no clue that was his dad. Thanks for clarifying that. I'll have to watch the link someone provided earlier as an intro to HJE. I've never seen it. Lugz I couldn't agree more. Definitely makes me want to spend my money with...

gpw Just saw your question. It's a backpack stove I believe. I've got another one just like it. Didn't try it to see. Here are the relevant part numbers and manufacture code. It's a No. 530 marked B46. Seems to have all the parts.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Very nice vise Butcher! I would scrape that heavy rust off with a razor blade scraper. Great patina!

HJE picks government surplus tool hoard

HJE has posted an addendum to the tool hoard pick in response to comments on the video. At this point, it would be nice if they could introduce themselves. Many of use have never been to the Epstein store in KC. So knowing who is who and what they do would be interesting. Addendum

    Vintage S-K Tools

Nice sets j0lly! I really do like S-K tools & boxes. I wish I found more. Seems like I have more empty boxes than tools and/or even parts of sets. May the tool gods begin to look favorably upon this poor old collector. :p

    Sawmill

Sawmill companies ought to give customers an extra log stop as I think everybody makes that mistake at least once.

I'll play. First, I would have picked up that smoothing plane and probably put it back down. Doesn't look like a Stanley. Second, probably the wood handle screwdriver and third that fiberglass ball peen hammer. The screwdriver is likely the only one that would have come home with me though.

Corndog NOS Delta machine parts are not that uncommon. LOTS of those machines were sold and I'd bet many, maybe most, are still running. Four of my Delta woodworking machines are from the 1940s. My 14" bandsaw is a 1956, the baby of the family! You really done good!

    Sawmill

Riven It looks like having a sawmill is like having a fishing boat, swimming pool, or summer cabin in the mountains - you find out you had friends you didn't even know! I was wondering if that was cedar or redwood. Either would be awesome with me! Nice!!! Please post more videos if you...

Corndog That is HUGE SUCKAGE!!! Just wow!!! I don't have space for a lathe but if I come across a vintage Delta like that one I'm going to make space for it! My woodworking machines are 1940s Deltas except for the '56 14" bandsaw. You keeping the Stanley No. 71 router plane? If not let me...

HJE picks government surplus tool hoard

Lugz I'm sure you noticed they did take those files after going back and digging down beyond the rust to find there were tons that were like new without the least hint of rust. I also saw they had loaded some of the grinder wheels. So many unanswered questions. Crazy!
