    silicone caulk

Don't know what happened to your caulk but I suggest you use Dicor next time. I have installed more than 20 satellite dishes on top of RV's, buses, trucks, etc and have never had one leak using Dicor products. http://www.dicor.com/Product.aspx?ID=12 It is the same stuff that is used by the...

Attic ?? Calling all contractors/structural engineers

FWIW, I would not do anything until I made sure that the roof loading would take the increased weight of the new "floor." From your picture, I am not sure that the roof would take the load if those are 2"x4" that support the decking.

Tool Chest/Cabinet/Cart for Costco 8 Ft. MBI Workbench?

Dave built the engine in this one........many moons ago. I talked with him earlier this year to try and get a little more history on the car. He remembered it but discarded the build sheets a long time ago. Car was built on the west coast and campaigned by Michael Scott and has a history of a...

    New member garage photos

Love the beams. My grandfather was a foreman of mill that made laminated beams years ago. I used to visit with them during the summer and loved to go to the mill and watch them lay up white pine into beams and then surface plane 24"+ wide beams that were more than 20' in length. I like the...

    Unwanted visitor

VERY carefully. Seriously, skunks have poor eyesight and I just used a large beach towel to mask my movement. You know, hold the towel in front of you as you walk towards the cage. Move slowly and if you see the skunk start pounding its front feet on the ground, slow down, that is their...

    Unwanted visitor

This is skunk 1 of 3 that I have trapped in the yard this year along with an opposum. All have been released with a major 4 lane highway and a river between me and them :) I have no use for snakes or spiders. For me there are 2 kinds of snakes, GOOD ones and live ones. As long as they stay...

Tool Chest/Cabinet/Cart for Costco 8 Ft. MBI Workbench?

FWIW, I have 1 Costco Bench in the nose of my trailer and 1 in the shop. I store all of my spares in 2 Sam's club roller cabinets: http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=384394 I roll them out of the shop and into the trailer for a race weekend. Works great and a lot easier...

    I hope I didn't screw up

I finally bought a compressor from TS today. It was on sale, two stage, IR model TS4N5, 15.5 scfm, 175 psi, 80 gal tank. Only problem was that the pressure switch was damaged when they unloaded it off of their truck into the store. I talked them into another discount because I will have to...

Thanks, Checked at Sears parts and the bearings are still available so I get to order stuff next week. BTW, has anyone else noticed how many parts appear to be available but have "available only to service technicians yadda, yadda, to to high voltage......." Does this mean the parts are really...

Well, its mine! :) Picked it up for $100.00 Bearings have very little play but I think I will rebuild it anyway. Jacobs Chuck. Nice vise. Cast iron base and Table. In pretty good shape all in all. I think I did ok. Now, has anybody got the digits for the manual for this drill. I have...

    A little help please :)

Thanks guys. I will be headed to look at it this afternoon. I guess I just wanted to hear some of the things I sort of already knew, ie runout of the spindle/bearings, Quill issues, etc. Looks like I will be able to pick it up for around $100, we will see if it pans out and I will report it...

    A little help please :)

A little help please :) UPDATED! I am going tomorrow to look at this Drill press. It is advertised as a 15" Sears press. Please look at the pictures. What should I look for as a problem with the press? Does anyone have any advice as to whether this is a good or bad press? I figure that...

    overkill? lighting my shop

FWIW, I have 13, 4 tube T-8, 8' fixtures in my 24'x32' shop. At 128 watts per fixture and 768 sq ft it works out to 2.16 watts/sqft. I really like the light, I agree with Rick, you can never have too much light in the shop.

    My Hideout

Nice shop, nice Neon. You ought to consider coming to Nashville in June. Enduro and sprints. I may try to make it to Memphis at least once this year.

    Update on the "Bus Stop"

24' x 32' on the shop. Yes, attic trusses, 24' total span. Even without a lot of extra bracing I don't feel the floor deflect upstairs. I used "lifted" scissor trusses for the highbay.
