Double Box End vs Combo Wrenches

I was in the Penske pits at an Indy car race at Laguna Seca years ago watching them teardown a transaxle. The used only combo wrenches, and mostly the open end. I thought that was a bit odd.

Building my first garage, need ideas!

I like elec outlets on the face of the workbench, which keeps the cord off the work area. Or use a drop down retractable cord. For my cordless tools I have an outlet in a cabinet for the chargers. I leave the door open when charging for air circulation. I like 3 and 4 way switches for the...

    Is this a block grinder?

I have one and hope to find another, it's a fine grinder. Mine runs best on 220, 221 whatever it takes. I bought mine new in 1988 from Sears for $100 because it had a cracked guard cover. I couldn't get it to run, so in addition to get it running the warranty took care of the cover.

Do I need a portable band saw?

I didn't think I needed one, even after my buddy gave me a new unused Milwaukee. It sat around for a few months until I needed to cut some steel. Holy ****! One of the best tools I own, use it all the time now. I haven't had a use for my Milwaukee sawzall since. Buy one, you'll love it!

Thanks guys for the kind words, you've really made my day! Yes, the notching was done on a mill. That idea was stolen from Kris at 44 Bikes Frame Shop who is an outstanding fab guy here on GJ.

I needed to make an engine crossmember for my 69 Mustang in order to lower the engine. The stock crossmember wouldn't allow any drop of the engine. So I drew up some plans, bent some tube, notched the ends and welded it up. ] The crossmember is welded upside down on the welding fixture.

Kris, superb fab work as usual. Great story about the artifacts, it's priceless. I haven't been on your thread in a while, so the attached pic from you is perfect timing and a life saver for me. I'm gonna steal the double clamp idea to use in my mill. I've been thinking of a way to notch a...

I would think that cleaning and prepping is the job of the shop, kinda like when you get something chromed or painted.

Nice score. So the way I read it, you're the only one of all the folks involved who had to pay for the sockets. Kudos for doing the right thing. I could use 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 & 17mm all in 3/8 drive please.
