Re the interior steel post, what is it's purpose, did the building dept require it, are you going to use it for some future structural need? I ask because it is only supporting 1 ceiling joist. Very nice build indeed.

The only issue I have, is that I cannot make it 26 ft deep all the way, since there is a power box behind the future building, and I have to be 10ft away. So a section of the extension will be only 21ft deep. If the 26' depth is important to you, you could offset the short 5' to the front...

The OP never said they were planning on enlarging the kitchen, they're renovating it. Space from the garage will be used for pantry, mudroom, laundry. If we knew about basement, number of children, how long they plan on staying in the home, ability to add onto the garage, better advice could be...
