I scored some steel post for an over head hoist...

What? Cement is the grey powder that makes the cured product hard. Concrete is cement, sand, rock and water. Are you referring to the thickness of the slab or foundation? Simpson also makes a great product. My local box store has a nice selection in stock. Great score on the steel op.

2 years of build/Dirt to completion/lots of pics

First I've seen of this thread. Nice job, and the satisfaction of doing it mostly by yourself is priceless. It took me pert near 2 years to self build 1,000 sq ft attached shop. No idea why the replies are thin, but with all the posts here they get on the 2nd and 3rd pages pretty quickly. Congrats!

    Rebar spacing

A slab for...? Is it needed for code, or just over built like the was I do things? A little more info on the use of the slab and where you're located would help. If not needed to meet code, pretty much any spacing you'd like. I went with 18" with #3 bar in the slab and four #4 in the footing. Bob

let's see your craftsman block grinders

This grinder is one of my better buys. In December of 1988 I was looking thru the return and recon tools and spotted this never used grinder that had a cracked housing between the motor and wheel. They wanted $125 for it, but took my offer of $100. I believe retail back then was $199. So...

Been missing my tig I did some tig welding last weekend on the swing out door bars for my 69 mach one. Been years since I've used a tig, but I suppose it's like riding a bike. The tungsten was moving so much I thought I might have Parkinsons disease. Half my life ago at age 29, I could lay...

My Take on The Ultimate Welding Table

Very nice build on the table. Your high standards are obvious in the pics. I always enjoy stories where guys build their own stuff, be it tables, tools, shops or vehicles. I hope your shop stays busy Clyde. Bob

What do you use your garage for?

I park the daily driver in the garage. The shop is for the welder, lathe, mill and working on cars.

    grease pit

If I didn't have #3 rebar on 18" centers in my slab, I'd probably put one in my shop since it has an 8' ceiling.
