how about lubri-plate? I've used it before. we have a gallon of it at work. My boss swears by it.

Youd have to isolate the motor ftom the air flow. Maybe build a sheet metal box around the motor, or move the motor further away.

Thats about the price I've heard, but minus the insulation part.

I usually have a few projects, an then need room to work also. That being said, my shop is about 9' by 30'. I cant get much done in there, too small.

Bigger, you'll have room for 2-3 cars as is.

I dont know if I'd go to the trouble of building a downdraft. I never painted in one but have used crossflows, and I think they work fine. You can just have an insert for you door to be a filter, with the exhaust fan on the other end. Gary

I really agree about having everything on casters. It also helps when you get an odd or oversized shape your working on. You can just roll stuff out of the way.

what about a shipping container? or an old semi trailer. I dont know what your neighborhood is like, but you can pick these up for around 2k. Once you have the extra space, it'll never be empty again.

I think one of th ebest ideas I have seen is to place 2" receiver hitches along the underside of the bench, then have your different tools, like a vice, sheetmetal forming tools, all plug into these receivers. that way they can be stored easily and set up with out taking any additional space. I...
