    My Garage Build 24x24

Most garages in my area are 2x4 some go 2x6. Insulation and heat pump is more to control humidity then for temperature control. I'll be splitting the walls in two, 12' each section plus my 22 years old is doing University from home so I'll have him out when its time to lift walls.

    My Garage Build 24x24

Its just a garage so didn't care too much about insulation to an extent. I grew up in a house that was built wit 2x4 and dont remember ever being cold. Might cost me a little more in power for the heatpump LOL Slab is 10"x12" on the perimeter with 2 rebars and 4" in the middle. I'll never...

    LVL header question

I can still get hold of them by phone. They are all working from home now. When I got the permit there was an inspection schedule and I wanted to know which one they wanted done. He said roof tight call us. I said what about after insulating and he said its not required but I already paid...

    Power to Garage

The part in the picture I dug myself with a shovel, excavator would do too much damage and I was trying to save the asphalt. Took me 5 hours of digging. The other 40 feet or so was dug and filled with the excavator while the guys were waiting for a load of gravel. Excavator saved me 2 days of...

Cat 5 cat 6 or copper phone wire for barn internet

Max distance for Cat5 is 300 Feet. However make sure when you terminate, you follow proper color code or at that distance you could have crosstalk and will limit your speed. http://discountlowvoltage.blogspot.com/2009/10/standard-568b-wiring-diagram.html?m=1 Sent from my iPhone using...

    LVL header question

Just found this diagram while researching this portal framing and this makes sense to me with the jacks continuing as cripples directly above. I'll adjust my drawings tomorrow and see how it looks.

    LVL header question

I'm going off my own blueprints so I can do what I want. They don't seem to be very picky around here as long as it looks like the bulk of it is down square and plumb LOL. I think if I go with the full 18' header then I'm building extra strong so I can't see it being an issue. I was just...

    My Garage Build 24x24

Ah ah, don't take offence but we use to tell ourselves between techs that it took more smarts to fix them then to break them LOL. I've had a few instances of getting called on the flight line for a broken radio and I just had to turn the O-N-O-F-F switch to the ON position. But that was...

    My Garage Build 24x24

I’m planning on doing it myself as well. I have a friend with all the tool who has help a dozen people already. I used to fix airplanes for a living so I figured a Heath pump couldn’t be that hard [emoji39] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Nails for framing

Yes I have have a box of regular smooth electro galvanized left over from another project. This time I needed some Hot Dipped for the pressure treated bottom plate so I figured I would do the whole garage with Hot Dipped LOL

    LVL header question

yes, that's what I was referring to. I'm not sure if its required in my neck of the woods, Nova Scotia. However I would find to be a shame to just cut off some good wood if it can be put to good use. Especially at the price I'm paying for those 2 LVLs. I hope my first born won't mind living...
