Tool Suggestion Needed: Cutting Large Diameter Stainless Ducts

he means along the circumference. put the pipe on the ground. Does it stand up? Is it plumb? are there gaps between the pipe and the ground? @dr_clyde Are they moving some sort of product through the tube? Does it have to be a sanitizable surface? does their way o welding prevent a place...

    DIY/Wood Car Stands(Cribbing)...Let's see them!

Jack goes on its own pile of cribbing. that's why you use a jack with a vertical lift, because you don't want the jack moving horizontally.

    BX Cable & Ground

In those cases, a GFCI would trip when a ground path, like a human, was introduced, preventing an electric shock. I'm pretty sure that's not what was happening in this case, though.

I'm pretty sure General still makes a 27x8.5x14LT mud tire. No one will have them in stock, of course.

    BX Cable & Ground

When I was in college, some friends rented a house that had mostly knob and tube wiring, with a smattering of BX in the basement. One of them went downstairs and found a short section of bx glowing. She mentioned that to one of her housemates, who said, "oh yeah, I've seen that." some...

Framing before or after electrical on a metal building

PVC also tends to look like **** if it’s not strapped down well, as it sags under its own weight.

If it trips, something is wrong that could result in a fire.

    DIY/Wood Car Stands(Cribbing)...Let's see them!

If your cribbing is stable, it is fine. You just have to do each corner a little bit, move to the next, and so on. Bottle jacks and other linear lifting jacks (screw, railroad ratchet, etc) are much better for this than a rolling floor jacks. When Chicago raised the base grade of the city...

    BX Cable & Ground

You're not installing the right stuff, then. southwire make two MC product lines with a bare bonding wire. They call them MCAP and HCF-MCAP for 'metal clad all-purpose' and 'healthcare facility....'. MCAP is MC with a bare aluminum bonding strip, in contact with the armor, and is available in...

    BX Cable & Ground

Whether it was sold by the owner of the BX trademark or not. BX is/was (not sure it's still a live mark, and I'm not going to check) a trademark for AC cable, it was originally owned by the inventors of the cable type. They were acquired by GE, and later Southwire ended up with the trademarks...

    Retractable casters for 600lb+ press

No. Use the lift master style. I have no doubt the bora ones will carry the weight, but getting the load on an off will ****. I have casters just like that on my workbench which is much lighter than your press and I basically have to lift the whole thing to get the first wheel down.

    Rigid metal conduit to EMT

EMT fittings have the same threads as RMC does. EMT gets screwed into rigid fittings all the time. As for the box, you’ve got it right. Box needs to remain accessible, can’t bury it in the wall. What size wires are you running? For 2” conduit , I’m assuming pretty big. You may need a bigger...

    Need to remove nickel plating

I long time ago, I knew a machinist who started working at a plating company. I thought that was a bit odd, but they did work nickel plating machine parts to bring them back to the correct dimension. I forget what he said they could apply, but it was over 50 thou. I don't think they did a...

    Rigid metal conduit to EMT

there are not tight 90s because wires have minimum bending radii, typically between four and six times the OD of wire. Note that's a static bending radius, where the wire is folded into place, as in a conduit body or box. Where the wire is pulled under tension, like in a 90 in conduit, the...

    Need to remove nickel plating

I was under the impression that the nickle strike layer was pure nickel, but super thin and often nearly transparent. The nickel provides a more reactive surface to bond other metals to.
