For all you snappy joes (Snapon fans)

I don't buy much from our local guy, BUT I do buy a few things now and again. I have to buy through one of the local garages in order to get anything because he won't ever stop when he sees my garage door open. A few weeks ago I dropped off money and the list of what I wanted at my mechanic...

What Particular Hand Tools Do You Own In Excess?

I have eight 1/4" ratchets, plus a gearwrench two handle driver set, a t-handle and regular driver. My wife thinks I have a problem. I still 'need' two more to be happy. One is the elusive snap-on TSLF936. Then my life would be complete.....

    Canadian Tire DEALS

I'm going to retract my statement on this. The 10" I put in my previous comment has a few differences than the one I actually have. It's closer to JohnnieMo's. It has a 45 mitre one way, 60 the other way with 45 bevel both ways. The trigger handle also swivels. The adjustment bolt for the...

    Canadian Tire DEALS

http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/maximum-dual-bevel-sliding-mitre-saw-10-in-0556767p.html#.VrkmrFJHNnA I bought this when it was 50% off, a while ago when reg. price was still $599.00. It is awesome! It slides effortlessly and the cuts are true and straight. It's a heavy brute though.

GearWrench 120xp flexhead ratcheting wrenches. Anybody own a set of these?

I have the Canadian Tire equivalent of this set. Branded as Mastercraft Maximum and GearWrench on the same tool, and I use them regularly and they are the cat's ***! I also bought the sthree inserts that convert the ratcheting ends into 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" ratchets. They are great for...

The one tool never to cheap out on?

Absolutely! The cheap stuff my dad used to bring home from the trains was lovingly referred to as "CN sandpaper" or John Wayne toilet paper - it was rough and tough and didn't take no **** from nobody! I bought a mig welder on a scratch or dent special, and ended up paying close to what I...

anyone lose a tool, buy a replacement, then find it?

Went through my tool box to 'decide' what was the one thing I really needed and could not live without. This was because the Department of War and Finance told me I spend too much on frivolous **** that I will never use. I ended up picking up a set of 3/8 drive metric six point deep sockets...

What Do You Wish You Had Done Differently?

Do not, repeat DO NOT put anything, not even one screwdriver into that garage until the interior is finished the way you want it - wired, insulated, gyprocked, paneled, whatever...If you do not follow this sage advice you will forever have an unfinished garage that takes 10 years to wire and...

    Which 1/4" Ratchet

I have 3 - the finger ratchet, the one that came with the general service set, and the round head with the soft grip. I use the one in the set all the time. The other two not so much but still wouldn't be without either of them.

Best tool you've ever found in the street

Probably found 100 rubber straps. I don't even pick them up anymore. I do have about 6-7 really good load straps with the ratcheting ends. Those I will stop for. Best tools so far are a 18" Snap-on prybar, a couple of no name prybars and a Westward 1 1/8" wrench.

    DeWalt Sockets? Who makes them?

And are they any good? They're on sale now at the local Canadian Tire and I could use a set of metric 1/4" deeps. $20 vs. $375 for Snap-On...

10 things I have learnt from building a garage

One thing I learned from my garage, is DO NOT, under any circumstances put anything in the damn garage until it is finished inside. It is far easier to run wiring and do the finishing when there aren't cars, totes and other **** that you have to juggle around and move out of the way.
