Peace, Love & Lucas - British Classics and Petroliana in WoodstockNY Garage

A maxjax lift was perfect for the eight foot space to the ceilings, and at max height raise the TRs right up to where the windshield is about an inch from the flourescent lights. BTW, the fridge is a 1942 Kelvinator that I bought from a body shop guy who sprayed it with black gloss and a,silver...

Peace, Love & Lucas - British Classics and Petroliana in WoodstockNY Garage

Thanks to this site, a local craftsman and I closed in gorilla racks with cabinet doors, used tin roofing for the ceiling, and built sliders above the rafters that store and hide away about 20 storage crates that hold hundreds of ornaments and Xmas lights that we use for decorating a 15-foot...

Peace, Love & Lucas - British Classics and Petroliana in WoodstockNY Garage

So after lurking for years on this site and oldgas.com, thought I would share what I've come to call "Peace, Love & Lucas," my Woodstock NY garage that houses my '66 Tr4a, '68 TR250 and '74 TR6. Borrowed the name from our annual British car show, which attracts about 100 classics at our local...

Cars falling off lifts - why?

I had just gotten my '68 triumph tr250 to maximum height with my maxjax two-post list in my garage when I heard a "pop" and all of a sudden the arms on one side started to come down quickly. It all happened before I had a chance to slide in the safety pipes that hold the arms from coming down...

Picked up an old Alemite Workbench

That bench is worth way more than you think to someone that collects petroliana. Go to oldgas.com, and I'd think you could easily post it on the for sale section and get $2,500 or even well more than that given the amazing condition it is in. That is a major find

    Maxjax Installs: Post Here

Be forewarned to definitely put in the safety bars as quickly as possible after raising your car and to really keep your eyes on the fittings that the hoses connect to at the bottom of each maxjax column. A couple of weeks ago I was raising my 1968 triumph and it had just gotten to its peak...

    MaxJax - Hydraulic Leaks

If you mean who's paying for the repairs to the car, I suppose I could get a lawyer and go to war, but it know what a clusterf-k that will be so I suppose I'm just going to bear that expense myself. I know, I know, I should battle them. It was really sad, because putting the car on the lift...

    MaxJax - Hydraulic Leaks

I called danmar last week. The guy very nicely told me my unit was past warranty and that it would cost a little more than $20 for the fitting and shipping. I told him I thought he should speak to his manager and explain everything I described above, and consider sending the fitting for free...

    MaxJax - Hydraulic Leaks

Sorry, it all occurred too quickly to take any photos, although I do have the defective coupling and will photograph it and put it up here when I get the chance.

    MaxJax - Hydraulic Leaks

I had an ever more serious problem than a simple leak out of the same reducer that's pictured at the beginning of this thread. It's the one that screws into the column. Last week, when I was lifting my 68 triumph, when the lift was just about the the top position, I heard a loud popping sound...

Have any of you shifted to solar?

Re: Have any of you went solar? I went with solar city. They lease you the panels and the equipment for 20 years. It reduces the upfront cost to zero with low monthly payments, or if you want to put up money upfront you can reduce the monthly payments to zero. I did the latter. They tell...

Porcelain on concrete floor that gets wet in one spot

So I'd like to do porcelain on a 20-plus year old cement floor. It's been covered in race crack-like tiles that have been there at least a dozen years, there are no major cracks underneath in the concrete, but in just one area of the floor (about a 3 foot square) when it rains hard I get a...

Makita vs dewalt vs Milwaukee -- any thoughts?

I'm in the market for a cordless 18v or 20v set of cordless tools. Will use them for a mix of home carpentry, auto repair and general repair/renovation. Any opinions on which of these three are the best, and why? Up Until now I've had a mixture of black and decker, craftsman and generally...

Bob Arlotta's Massive Snap On Box Wins All

I agree with turbo prop. This guy sounds like a very hard working, knowledgeable and conscientious business owner who does everything he can to give back to his community. Too many jabs at his height, the layout of his boxes, and even the size of his appendages from this crowd.
