this was an awesome read. i am working on a DIY hydronic floor heat in my 24x30 garage with 18x30 upstairs room/bathroom. slab has 3 250' runs of 1/2 ex and i have aluminum fin under the subfloor between the floor joists for the upstairs, as well as in the bottom 4' of the walls. to add to the...

    Heat exchanger? Pics?

I'm just about ready to install the plumbing for the floor. The garage is insulated well enough that I've got 30 degrees on whatever it is out side at least. This morning it was 5 out and I had 39 with no heat in 2 days. I can get it up to 70 with a 15,000 btu tank mount heater. So I'm thinking...

    DIY spray foam

Actually, my idiot first contractor had left one stud without any nails from the sheathing. It's not going anywhere now. I turned the heat off around 3 hrs ago. It's 22 out and it's 49 in the garage.

    DIY spray foam

OK so I went with the contractor and had it foamed today. 3" ceiling 2" on the front wall. The difference is completely amazing. I'm now heating the 20x24 garage with the clamp on to the tank propane heater. It's 21 out and 50 some inside. I will never use fiberglass again.

    DIY spray foam

Been searching all evening for someone that’s used one of the two part kits to do a smaller garage. 20x24 roof and 8’ front wall. I think I could manage with $1500 in foam. I’m convinced I want foam but estimate is $2500. I’m an auto painter by trade so some of this crosses over. Ie I have the...

Water heater for occasional shop use?

I bought a little Ryobi electric pressure washer that is always hooked up. It takes the 8gpm down to 1.5 gpm but still gives some ooommph behind the water.

Tankless Water heaters, yeah or nah?

Seems to be two schools of thought, those that have them and love them and those that don’t. My tank water isn't sitting hot at the tap either.

I have been running over the picture of Firebrick's plumbing in my mind. Considering your trying to get water to circulate in the lines..., how much better would the softer bends be?

But I'm amazed with either the amount of heat or the building's ability to hold it.

    BTU output from new concrete

I'm kind of amazed. I had my floor poured Friday Morning at 7:30. there's a remote sensor on the wall and it's reading 47 degrees. it's 30 in Pittsburgh and has been since the pour. The Garage is 23x20, 4 " concrete with 2 " of foam underneath. No insulation In ceiling, Or front wall...

    Air compressor shelf.

I used hockey pucks for vibration isolation on the floor. Seems to have worked really well. I agree with splitting it up and both hang it and support it.
