Detail corners of metal drip edge, fiberglass shingle roof.

And the drip edge over the fascia should not be tight to the fascia. There should be a gap of 1/8. - 1/4”. I’d work a 1-2’ length of drip edge under the drip edge on the left so it would rest above the drip edge on the right.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yeah, attempting to clean and organize the garage today, I rediscovered a box of new parts for our 1988 Mazda 626 TurboAWS. One front hub, two wheel bearings, oil seals, trans filter and gasket. A new door hinge, tie rod ends, ball joints and a few others. All brand new for a car I traded in...

Same. Just a dusting. Just as well as I still have to prep the Toro.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cleaned-up the vegetable garden in advance of our first freeze (they’re threatening snow, but I remain skeptical), drained and disconnected the hose reels. Filled 7 cans for green waste pick-up. Next, I rearranged the mess in the shed, then put the winter tires on the black car and moved the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Trying to stay ahead of the cold weather arriving Saturday night… planted a few dozen more bulbs (jumbo Allium), and as long as the hose was out for the last few days, hand washed two of the cars. Then I grabbed the polisher and did I little clear coat cut / correction on, well all three...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Try a vacuum bleeder. This assumes you have compressed air available, but I assume that you do. Years ago they were costly, but now Jungle Jeff has many for around $50. I used a pressure bleeder for ages on the Audis, but the Sienna is in need of bleeding also

Beerhippie - this would have been useful to you for your new camera equipment case: Home Despot I picked it up a few weeks ago when they had a promo that included an additional battery. It was $99, so I'd bet they come up with a black friday deal soon that's similar.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

A few small tasks - one was fitting track saw accessories into a spare Systainer that I had The foam packaging that it came in fit almost perfectly, but required modification with a hot-wire foam cutter. The other piece fit just on top: Then I finally repaired a forklift damaged tool box...

    Powermatic 50 - 6" jointer

I need to create more room in my woodshop and sadly my Powermatic 6" jointer is first up. I did buy a larger jointer a few years ago and I just don't need two. This has a 1 H.P. Motor, magnetic starter and mobile base. It's in good working order - currently wired for 230V - Single Phase...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

We had a similar situation at work many years ago. Actually worse as it was in the doorway between two buildings and there was an inch of elevation change. Heavy forklift traffic all day long with 2-5,000 # steel coils moving one way and fully laden scrap hoppers going the other way. All day...

    What do you regret most?

I wish I put PEX in the slab for radiant heating. At the time (34-35 years ago), there weren’t any reasonable $ options for boilers, so hanging a unit heater seemed logical. A few hundred spent then would have been cheap future-proofing.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Took tools out and put them away after cutting out an old basement window frame. I had covered it up with redwood bevel siding 45 years ago. At the time it was a quick and dirty job to secure a rotted window and provide improved insulation and security. Back then I didn’t pay much attention to...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The value of scrap steel is closely related to your proximity to a consumer (typically a steel mill) as well as grade. The two best paying markets for steel scrap were Chicago and Cleveland. Transportation of heavy stuff ain’t cheap. In my past life (career) the scrap value was a significant...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Cleaned up, filled the recycling and garbage bins. Sanded and primed a section of handrail that I should have installed 25 years ago. Top coats tomorrow and the next day. Moving on, I unboxed a 10” puller that I ordered from Bezos. I had 10” and 9” aluminum impellers that needed removing and...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

As part of the never-ending clean-up effort, I disassembled and trashed a number of router and table saw jigs/fixtures that have been taking up space and collecting dust for the last 30 years or so. Not sure why I kept them this long, but now I have a bunch of toggle clamps. The scraps of...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Variance to exceed build sq footage of lot?

IME, you’re completely at the mercy of the AHJ. When I applied for my garage permit around 1990, I was in complete conformance with setbacks and lot coverage wasn’t even close to the maximum area percentage allowed. The garage was sited on the back of the lot by the alley, not in an unusual...
