Buying Tools With Gift Card Money

Gift cards are a great business. I read somewhere, years ago, that roughly 50-60% of gift cards are never utilized, because customers lose them and forget about having them. I’d like to be in the gift card business.

    easy removable adhesive

I have worked with hide glue for furniture restoration. Not only does it smell horribly, the temperature change can cause the materials themselves to expand / contract. I am glad this is no longer used much in industry, as adhesive technology advancement has replaced the need for this ancient...

    Switzerland flea market finds 🇨🇭

Switzerland armed forces hand saw. This is a neat tool. It comes with a wood cutting and a metal cutting blade, with both sides of the blade sharpened. A wing-nut allows the handle to be rotated for use in tight confines and at difficult angles. The blade itself can also be adjusted on its arc.

    Switzerland flea market finds 🇨🇭

Due to the popularity of my tool shopping in Europe posts, I thought I’d do a post showing some recent finds over a few weeks going to a weekend flea market in Genevé. Genevé is considered the most expensive city in the world in which to live. That said, the Swiss mindset is twofold: First...

    Tool shopping in France 🇫🇷

Actually, there are bigger and better tool stores in France. I just happened to be in Annecy and wanted to check this one out.

    Tool shopping in France 🇫🇷

No, I only looked for French made or EU made hand tools. The lumber and building materials section occupies an entire wing of the store. If you stand facing the front doors, it is the entire right hand “wing” of the building.

    Tool shopping in France 🇫🇷

Not sarcasm. I know what you mean. Warped garbage lumber with lots of defects and knots is what I see at US home stores. If you want good quality plywood or building lumber, you best purchase from a mill or specialty lumber yard in the states. Not in France. I was quite impressed.

    Tool shopping in France 🇫🇷

On the contrary, the building materials section was huge, and they had a diverse plywood inventory and the boards were beautiful. I had a look. France is a leading forestry producer, so this is why. I saw another customer carrying birch ply out to his vehicle while I was parking and I was...

    Tool shopping in France 🇫🇷

My purchases in France today, both by French manufacturer Nespoli, known for their spatulas and scrapers and wall treatment tools. Both items made in France and well made.

    Tool shopping in France 🇫🇷

Because of my detour out of Switzerland, I received an (un)expected phone-call from the women that since I was in France, I had best return with cases of a particular wine from the South of France, and if I didn’t, I could expect my cars to be torched, tools and garage contents as well, garden...

    The Facom Tools Thread.

Honestly, the best one on the market I think. Really well thought out and resist elements well. I gifted two to friends and they are proper chuffed with it. Including one friend who has a complete garage, and I mean everything, ALL Hazet. My only complaint is the big one is easy to overload...

    The Facom Tools Thread.

Facom in use today in the beautiful French city of Lyon, the culinary capitol of the world. I own the larger version of this tool bag and it is wonderfully made and great engineering thought went into it. Including the waterproof construction and the rubberized-plastic bottom base.
