    Radioman\woodworking shop rebuild, pic heavy

"carbons4 I just have to ask, what is a double 90 periscope? I may have seen them and didn't know what to call them." It is a periscope that looks back at you. Cardboard tube about 2' long a 90 degree mirror in each end. A typical periscope looks the same way you are facing. This gives the view...

I have one of those sanders, without the cool case. They work GREAT on fine work. The High Frequency magnetics work like a charm. Make my old 1/3 sheet sander I bought new back in 70's sound like a threshing machine, even when it was new.

I worked for a company once that did vacu forming. I made a lot of proto type and short run molds. They were all MDF and bondo. Big run stuff was all aluminum.

The vinyl would take away from the hand applied trim. Also being 1/16" adds a bit of depth too. I put galvinized tin up behind my grinder and mill in the shop. Could have gone cheaper but I liked the rivets and look and do not have to worry about errant sparks and oily clean up is easy.

lets see the REAL man caves

Tamborinni is one hell of a designer. I prefer my shop/garage/barn over a "Man cave". No hi def plasma (i do have a old TV). No leather couch. No marble/tile floor, just concrete. I am personaly thankful for it. I worked to many years in a gravel driveway. To my grandpa, my dad, my brother...

lets see the REAL man caves

Before I continue my rant I have to say one thing, Abstamaria, Beautiful car and bike. Any 916,996,998,748 is a work of art. They don't get voted motorcycle of the decade for no good reason. Guess I am just old and I know I hate anything trendy. Before it was buzzword it was the garage, the...

lets see the REAL man caves

"Man cave" is some trendy name that somebody that never did a lick of work on there car, bike,or house came up with I bet. I have friends with two different schools of thought. One can't do anything till he gets his 8 car mosoleum with the fancy floors and the cherry cabinets and the big screen...

Thank you. I am glad to see other people believe in old tools and they are for more than just putting in a display case. You see some of these expensive fancy build with more diamond plate and plastic than the NASCAR pits. They have no soul. They are cold ,impersonal. Thanks againg for showing...

I always thought of it as Climb Milling vs Conventional Milling. (I had a mill before I ever bought my RAS) The RAS was the true multi purpose tool of the day before everyone had a full shop of tools. cross cut, miter cut, rip, sand ,mold, plane...... you could do it all with a good RAS. And...

I can't remember if it was when I bought my RAS or just one I had seen since but the picture's you posted reminded me of the outer box had a block diagram of a saw and a hand and three fingers flying away from the saw and DANGER! printed on it. My friend and I could not stop laughing.

In today"s world you would have to Idiot Proof everything. But in today's market, who would be left without all the idiots? Yea, we can get them for relatively cheap but some T R E N D Y S.O.B. will figure out how to "re -purpose" them into some monstrocity.

I guess I just got lucky then. My DeWalt is pretty tight, but it cost about double what my RAS did new. (not inflation adjusted). Most people NEVER took the time to set up their RAS correctly either. Just bolt it together and go. If I remember right it took me a good part of the afternoon to get...

When they finally did "catch on", they pretty much killed the RAS sales. Especially the compound sliding ones. There are still a lot of things you can do with a good RAS you can't do with a miter saw most people do not realize.
