@Shiftless Awesome and I actually found a pair of them both the 5196. Just because I’m curious and love a deal what do those normally go for? I want to see if I did ok. No planning on selling but want to know!

Thank you @Shiftless im excited to have the collection going! i believe they are 4 inch jaws but i will double check when i can in a bit. It looks like the nose numbers were double stamped almost like an error. I believe it says model - AD 05196 does that seem right?

I also got this one - not for sure what it is I think prentis? Any know of it or is interested?

The second pick up was a pair of these old Craftsman - would love any info people have. One of them needs a jaw pad - it has a chip out of the bottom of one other than that these are super clean and tight.

First timer here - got 3 vises today and am Loving them! Had some help from @wrenchr and thanks for all the advice. Without further ado here is the first one a Reed 1C - I think it’s super nice and even has a cool number plaque on it. To me it looks very barley used - they said original paint

I’m not sure why these quotes are sticking around. That is really nice too. I’ve seen some of those - didn’t know they were good ones. As I said I’m totally new to it - if you have any models / brands to watch for I’d be appreciative!

Sorry to hear you are sick - mainly home workshop stuff. Some welding , bending etc. nothing too massive but would like to be able to put decent sized material into it

Ok so you think the 1C for sure? The 3.5 inch jaw isn’t limiting at all? I guess what is .5 an inch in the end

I’m going between that and the 204 1/2 just not sure which is the better idea. This one is 175. Is there an “ideal” reed model to look for?

I have the opportunity to buy this vise for 225 maybe a bit less. Is it worth that price? Looking for my first vise - I want something very hardy and long lasting to pass on. Do I pull the trigger?
