    Drilling into the foundation?

My wife wants a shelf in the basement. I've always been leary of drilling holes in the concrete walls/foundation. This shelf would only be about 4' long. I'd need at least 2, but probably 4 holes to hang a couple shelf brackets. Am I being unreasonably cautious about drilling holes into my...

I'd be looking into plywood or ship lap or whatever under the assumption that It will be $1,000 cheaper :)

    Cutting Thin Acrylic

I just browsed around Lowes and found acrylic sheeting that's only 0.08 thick, or about 1/16". That should be a sufficient deterrent to keep the birds from chewing the edge. If i can get away with material that thin I'm now torn between just scoring the edge and using that Milwaukee cut off...

    Cutting Thin Acrylic

Thanks guys. I would have never dreamed of cutting it on my tablesaw with the blade installed backwards, or a torch to finish the edge.

    Cutting Thin Acrylic

We just installed wainscoating with a shelf above it in our kitchen. To combat my wife's adorable birds from chewing the edge of the shelf I'm considering laying 7" wide pieces of thin (1/8"?) acrylic on the top of the shelf. I'll need about 40', so lots of cutting. What's the best way to...

    Brick Threshold Failing

This is a brick threshold in front of the door to my garage. The brick on the far right is literally in pieces. The two next to it are just cracked. What would you suggest I do to repair it or at least stop it from getting worse. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Remote Workshop - 12v Power Supply - Game Camera for "security"

I've got 4 Tacticam reveal cameras and I'm very happy with them. Add their external solar panel and batteries will last virtually forever.

Solar powered, no WiFi security camera

I run a couple Tacticam Reveal cameras that have all the features you mentioned. Ther're fairly new to me, but they've run flawlessly off the solar panels for 5+ weeks.

    Finish for Cherry wood?

My general finish for cherry starts with an application of BLO (boiled linseed oil) followed a few days later with a coat of de-waxed garnet shellac to seal, add some richness and provide a barrier layer that will take pretty much any top coat you prefer. I usually use a wipe on oil-based...

    Over Workbench Extension Cord?

If it were me I'd place an electrical outlet at all four corners. Put the cord reel on the wall and pull it out to the bench to power the outlets when needed.

    Compressors - Starting my Shop

I found this in another thread hear on GJ. Found it enormously useful. What I gathered from all my reading here was that motor and pump rpm is the most important thing to look for (lower the better)

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

I have a 12.0 that's maybe a year old, but had literally 30 seconds of actual use. broke it out this weekend to use on my polesaw, and it died after about 10 seconds. Charger shows it fully charged, but it won't work on any M18 tool. I got it brand new, but at a significant discount based on...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Has anyone used the 2749-20 M18 FUEL 18-Gauge 1/4" Narrow Crown Stapler? Reviews I've found are universally positive, but I trust the opinion of the folks on this forum a lot more.

School me on Step Drill Bits ....

Just something Ive never really had a use for as a woodworker. That's changed I think now that I've gotten into working with steel. I've seen 6 piece HSS sets from Milwaukee for $180+ and individual titanium coated bits for under $10. Is a set of bits useful, worth it to "buy once cry once"...

Agreed, but I'm waiting for one that shoots staples as well. I use staples much more frequently

    Milwaukee Heated Gear Opinions

I don't own one because I was under the impression the batteries wore out pretty fast, like 2 hours or so. Wouldn't do me much good in a duck blind or tree stand for 6 hours. If I'm wrong about battery life, please let me know.

I'm looking to purchase it too, but haven't been able to find any sort of deal on it. If you find one, lemme know.
