    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A new lease on life: 30x40 schoolhouse conversion

For some reason I had thought that would be done via large singular pieces, but the multiple overlapping pieces makes sense. There hasn't really been any pieces that small except for when I took the windshield out. I got most of that cleaned up but still seeing some pieces I missed. That was...

I already have a couple 4.5" grinders. I got this one to handle heavier stuff and to get a deeper cutting depth. I did notice especially in those rear cab pillars that the inner pieces where harder to cut through.

I should have figured that the cab would be rusty but I didn't think it would be this bad. It really would be a complete replacement of every piece of metal on the lower half of the truck if I had tried to fix it. It looks like this project will be one of those ones that requires a new...

That's an interesting observation on disc sizes. I can't say much since I haven't been looking in other stores, but the store where I bought this grinder had tons of 7", even lots of 6", but only a handful of 9" discs. And this was a dedicated tool/hardware store, one of the biggest in the region.

Picked up this monster the other day, the GA7050 7" 15amp grinder. Should cut through stuff a lot better than my 4.5" grinders. I was actually looking at 9" grinders, which would have meant that I was coming home with a Dewalt, but after comparing the weight of them and the price difference for...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A trip back from the edge.

Back a few years ago (actually more than a few, more like 20 now that I think about it) me and a buddy used to do our vehicles and a few others every year. I think that mix was mostly used engine oil with some ATF to thin it out enough that it would go through a spray gun. My buddy had a spray...

Similar process but different products. I prefer oil undercoatings as they don't seal in anything underneath them like Ziebart does. I don't know how you'd ever get that problem fixed. At least around here with wet salty spray in the winter and mud from dirt roads the rest of the year, that...

Do you guys do oil undercoating over there? It makes a world of difference. The truck I drove before I had my Dad's Avalanche was a 2000 Silverado. It was undercoated annually since new, and I kept that up when I got it. I sold it with 325k km on it, and the box was just starting to bubble...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A new lease on life: 30x40 schoolhouse conversion

One drawback to this new setup is that in heavy wetter snow it doesn't throw it as far as my old tractor did, likely because it's 25hp vs 50hp. But yes, still a lot better than dealing with the piles I would have from a plow. That's what I did my first winter we lived here, but that only lasted...

Well it's only the middle of December but it looks like the middle of February with how much snow we have. I've got over 5 hours on the tractor now just blowing snow, and winter hasn't even officially started yet. :lol_hitti The new blower has been working really good, except for one...

I'm very jealous of your green grass. We have enough here that the dog has to jump just to get around the yard lol.

Up around this area we have the same rock problem that @jblnut has. Most guys have at a minimum rock buckets for a skidsteer, many have rock pickers and rakes too. But where I grew up was pretty light ground and didn't have any rocks. The reactions I get when I tell guys here that I've never...

Yeah I'm gonna have to watch that. I have enough other things on the go that I don't need this turning into a huge time sink. I think I've talked with a dozen people so far and haven't sold anything. Although one guy is supposed to be coming by tonight for a couple doors, and one other guy...

Heat 24/7 or only when in the shop?

You guys that are only heating when it's in use, do you have problems with condensation on tools causing rust? Problems with the temperature swings affecting things like wood stock? Or does the building being insulated moderate the temperature swings enough that it's not a problem?

Yeah I'm discovering that part. I've been pricing stuff similar to or a bit cheaper than what's for sale on marketplace, and a lot of people ghost me after that. Is everyone just thinking that since it's a part out I'm going to sell them a transfer case for $10? And the cats, I'm getting at...

The more I tear into this thing, it's becoming more apparent that I made the right call. The rust is worse than I thought, and the mice have done some serious damage to some of the wiring and interior parts. I've found a couple serious mouse houses already, and the remnants of a few mice as...
