That is my goal, to be closed in before snow. Then I will take my time getting the inside just the way I want it.

vntperfomance - They are treated 2x10's or 2x12's, not sure which. It is typical pole barn construction. The key is to make sure you have good drainage away from the building and it really isn't much of an issue. Foundation costs for a pole building is significantly less than conventional...

Thanks. We are getting soome great weather here in Ohio the next couple of days. So I am taking a vacation day on Wednesday. I am anxious to start putting the vinyl siding on. And my wife is anxious for me to get the boxes of siding out of the attached garage so she can park her car inside...

No 20A GFCIs made in USA?!?!

Did you check on GFCI breakers? That way your whole curcuit is protected and you don't have to worry if you wired the first outlet correctly.

Thanks JC23. I was able to get a great deal off of Craigslist on all my windows. The first 16' of the building from that end has vaulted trusses. That first bay will have a vehicle lift in it. That window is right beside the lift.

Thanks nighttrain. Looks like we will get some nice weather mid-week, so planning to take a day off and hit it hard. Should be putting on vinyl siding by then.

Here is an update. With the help of my Son and my Dad, we got some more windows framed, OSB sheeting on, walls wrapped, and the big window in the vaulted end installed. The front window is framed and after the picture was taken, we got that wall and the door wall wrapped as well. Will get...

    Where to put lift ?

I like location 1 better if you trim the room down to 18' and leave yourself 4 foot between the post and the wall.

Buying a pole barn kit soon, looking for last minute advice

If that is how you plan to use the building, why not locate the overhead door on the end of the building and then you don't have to turn once you go inside? The man door can be anywhere that makes sense.

I only have 200 Amp service to my house but I still plan to do a 100 Amp subpanel in th building. I will put a 100 Amp breaker in the main panel and run the line underground out to a 100 Amp subpanel. We have propoane heat and water heater, so our demand is not that high. If you have electric...

Buying a pole barn kit soon, looking for last minute advice

Shingles and vinyl siding takes longer to build, but does make it match the house better. I did that on my first pole barn. The one I am doing now I am doing vinyl siding, but went with metal roof. 50 AMp service may be a little light if you plan to do any welding in the future. Consider 100...

Just an additional thought about overhangs....You could just do overhangs on the eaves and forget the gable ends. The eaves are the only ones that provide venting (if you use vented soffit). If your trusses are 24" on center AND you are using OSB under your metal roofing, then you would not...

The pics with the cars in it are Cletus66's. Mine is no where close to that point yet. And yes that fastback caught my eye as well. My first car was a 65 Mustang. Wish I still had that car now.

Buying a pole barn kit soon, looking for last minute advice

I have spent the last 3 years planning my building. Although I am just getting started on it and haven't used it yet, here is the rationale for what I am doing. I do want a vehicle lift in part of the building. Lifts generally need a 12' ceiling, but I did not really want a 12' ceiling...
