    The absolute finest gloves

I just buy brown jersey gloves by the dozen, sometimes they last a couple days, some days a couple hours. When I wear one out, I save the other and flip it over for the other hand when I start a nasty job, then toss 'em in the stove. $4 a dozen you can't argue with that. I'd feel awful trashing...

    Growing up with tools.

To be honest I don't know how we done it, but we farmed corn, cattle and hogs and fixed EVERYTHING out of a small Craftsman flip top box and a few John Deere wrenches. On the other end of the spectrum my Grandpa owned a garage/filling station, it was a drive but he done our welding. After high...

How do you leave a crescent wrench?

This thread has it all! Insults, name calling, bad mouthing and a fair share of liars...Guys that are proud of their collections, others ashamed of owing "only one I never use". OCD freaks and down right slobs. So where do I fit in this diverse group, you may be asking....I have a drawer full...

    Screwdrivers...

I haven't seen Vaco mentioned, I'm a big fan of the hard handles they have. I believe their made by Klein.

AST tools? and Subaru cam gear tools?

I've done quite a few 2.5 DOHC and am trying to figure out how a special tool could help you. The pulleys have to come off to replace the seals anyway. Maybe I've just been lucky, or have a very strong grip.

How long for concrete to cure?

My Grandpa always said, 80 years to cure 80 years to rot......but he said a lot or things like that...lol

    So let's talk welding helments.....

I was a fan of the HF auto dark for quite some time. I had loaned it out and 6 months later it still hadn't made its way home, and I was growing tired of the old heavy fixed shade. I picked up a Miller pro-hobby with a 1.25 cheater lens at Welders Supply in Louisville for around $140, I LOVE...

How to store cross force wrenches?

I'm really wondering why that would be picture worthy.....I've got lots of cool tools, but if I have to hear about how my 9/16 is to far away from my 5/8 in my box, why would I ever post a picture of things. OCD is kinda outta control around here at times.......

What's In Your Oil Can..? - - Is ATF a Good Idea..?

I'm a big ATF fan....always have a can ready in the shop. It's great for squeaky fan belts, hydraulic jacks and believe it or not a damn good fuel injector cleaner. I dump a quart in a full tank every couple months, remember I drive a Subaru with 300,000+. So all you Mercedes and Lexus guys just...

6th Annual Garage Journal Secret Santa (Official Thread)

Thanks to Subyroo651..got a set of snap ring pliers and he really did his homework on this one...a pic of a Country Squire in brick, my Grandpa done this at a dealership back in the early 70's. I posted a story about it in free parking a couple years ago. That will be hanging in the very box he...

Firewood trailer with conveyor roller floor?

I use 2 old spreaders, but they are stripped down. Everybody asks if I can use them that way though. I've always wanted an old lift gate but they add so much weight, just like a slide in dump bed. A 12V cable wench on a cherry picker frame seems like a low cost solution to back pain....lol

    Recall : Red Wing Boots

Wouldn't you just know it....the only reason I didn't wear a brand new, never worn outside pair is it's so damn muddy here today. Looks like they may never get that way.

When wrench sets skip sizes, how do they decide which to skip?

I work on German and Asian printing equipment 19mm and up are a must. And Subaru axle nuts are 32mm, you even need big wrenches on small cars.

    The secret Santa Helper

I'm a stuck in the 70's, hot rods come from junkyards kinda guy (according to my family). USA 1 license plates, any type of tool if it's needed or not....Chevy bow ties and fender emblems......but if a guy takes the time to buy or make something, It'll be cool just to see the kind of stuff he...
