    Vintage Toolbox Cleanup Question

I'm currently cleaning up an old box too, using kerosene and 0000 steel wool, then auto polish and wax. Working pretty good so far, better than the simple green did. Besides oil, grease and dirt, there's also other nasty stuff on mine that the simple green won't get off, like melted rubber and...

    Shower Liner For Snow

Just don't lay a vinyl shower curtain on a painted vehicle. I did that once as a motorcycle cover, ruined the paint on the tank.

What are getting done around the garage(or house) this weekend?

Clearing the driveway of snow first. Then cutting some foam insulation to fit the garage doors. Have one done already, two to go. And then if I still have any motivation, continuing to try to get all the junk organized so the garage is usable as a shop. But it's almost Dickel time now...

Not a bad way to spend $30

Any pointers on how to clean the crinkle finish? I have one that really needs cleaning, I don't want to ruin the finish if I can help it. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Harobr Freight 25% off coupon

My flyer said the coupons for NYD 25% were with any purchase on the Sat and Sun after Christmas. Not sure if they are extending it past the weekend.

    "Free" CFL bulbs @ Lowe's

Same deal is (or has been) available on 9v batteries. 4-pack for 9.97 with a $10 coupon in it, so the batteries are free. We have a commercial account at work, so I have got about 28 batteries free or $70 off on things we would have purchased anyway regardless of the discount, whichever way...

Cheap walmart T-8 48" light fixtures ok ?

I put six of the WalMart fixtures in my garage over 6 months ago, used a box of T8 bulbs from Lowe's. All are working fine, no hum, no flickering. And if (when) I rearrange my shop/garage, they can be easily repositioned as needed. I'm satisfied with them, and see no reason to spend more...

    Ridgid Shopvac

We have 2 of the 12 gal. Shop Vacs from Lowes at work, and I also have one at home. The motor has burned out in two of them, but Lowes has replaced them with no questions asked. They were the $29 sale specials too, and the replacements were priced much higher not being on sale at the time, but...

    Old Toolbox ID?

The top box does have a drop front, the lid is up in the pictures so you cannot see it. Inside of the lid is black krinkle if that helps also. Any idea of the age? Thanks for all the quick replies, this is a great forum.

    Old Toolbox ID?

I recently picked up this old toolbox from a CL ad. It was advertised as a SnapOn, but I'm not sure. Did SO ever have an oval indentation where the logo was? I also cannot find any model number or date on the back. Appreciate any info that can be offered as to maker and age. Thanks. Carl...

    Cool Finds Today

I found a Craftsman ratchet like that today in 1/2", looks like almost no use, just some minor toolbox scratches. Any idea when it was made?

Visitor stopped by the shop today...

Come on, you all sound like a bunch of sissies! Snakes and other reptiles have a beneficial function in the ecosystem, keeping pests under control ( and no, snakes don't qualify as pests). There are more injuries from dropped tools in the shop every year than there are from snakebites. More...

Picked up my garage fridge, 1950s Admiral!

Classy! Making me regret that I recently gave away my 1950's Norge to a buddy for his shop. The wife thought it used too much electricity. He now has the one in his shop and one in his lake house, covered with decals, pretty cool. The 1990's box I kept may be more efficient but it just...

    Small air compressor comparison

Hi all, New to this forum and am finding it very helpful in a lot of ways, and really appreciate all the knowledge being shared here. I have a question if I may. Lowe's has a Bostitch 6 gallon pancake compressor with 3 nail tools for $249. HD has a similar one from Porter-Cable for $275. Is...

    shelving rubber?

Walking through the outdoor landscaping section at Lowes or HD a few weeks ago I saw some rubber mat stuff that looked like it was in 8' wide or so rolls, and was sold by the linear foot I think. I was just passing by, but at the time the thought crossed my mind that it would be good and...
