I know I have seen a lot of discussions on here, but couldn't find on thread that really helped me make the call on it.. I have a 40x40 pole barn, r19 in the walls with vapor barrier. The ceiling is already hung with metal and it over laps 4-6" at the three joints. I am going to do blown...

In total I got roughly 70-85 tons.. Took us from 11am-5pm to get the ground dug and all the millings moved in. Ground was rough digging, hard as a rock. I am about 70% to where I need to be now and really happy with the free start.. The entire driveway is 4"-6" thick, up near the shop its 8"...

Just got some good new, fingers crossed, my cousin works for the town, had me come up to sign a release for asphalt millings. So I need to get my **** out there digging a drive way to the shop. Coming close to the end of the season and they have a surplus so might score some for free..

I would run them 8' if I could do it again, just gives you extra strength for finishing if you are going to do it like I did with girts inside. But even at 8' (or 7'6") I still found that adding the extra stiffener in between really helped strengthen the wall. Really depends how you are going...

Came home 2 days early from the cottage because of bad weather and I was able to bang out a ton more. Finished up the panels, painted like a mad man and put up some electrical covers. Next up some trim and start moving stuff in. Finished up the last piece of paneling.. Close up of my...

Hardie Plank, Pre-paint vs pre-painted vs paint when installed

I did find one benefit, its fire proof rating.. Vinyl will burn quick once its started.

Hardie Plank, Pre-paint vs pre-painted vs paint when installed

Not kidding at all, I am sure no house with hardy board has ever had a wasp make a nest on it.. Lol come on.. If the siding comes off in a wind storm it wasn't installed properly. I have seen this happen in the Ryan track homes or in national builders, but never in a quality build. If its done...

Hardie Plank, Pre-paint vs pre-painted vs paint when installed

I believe its nearly maintenance free, minus washing if you want to. Our house is 21 years old and beside it fading I have only had to calk some windows it has been 0 effort on my part.. I am just saying I don't understand why people pick a siding that will require painting etc.. All siding...

Hardie Plank, Pre-paint vs pre-painted vs paint when installed

I still don't know why people go with a siding that requires future maintenance, specially with all the crazy vinyl sidings available today. I have heard nothing about great things about hardy, but why want something you will have to paint at some point.. way off topic... sorry..

I am going to paint them a dark gray, then the upper boards will be light gray to help reflect some light.
