How many 48" T8 two tube fixtures will I need?

I'm in the finish stage of my garage addition and about to wire the ceiling for lights. I have a 30'X30' addition with 14' ceiling. Ceiling and walls will be painted white. The new space will be used for working on cars & trucks as a hobby. I want to use 48" tubes and thought the T8s would...

    Water heater placement question.

Originally the plan is to put the water heater in the same small room as all my radiant heat plumbing. This same room will double as a rest room with stool and sink, etc. I understand all the safety precautions involved with a gas water heater and appreciate the comments and reminders. I was...

    Water heater placement question.

I saw on this forum somewhere that someone had put their water heater what looked like several feet above all the rest of their plumbing for their slab radiant heat. What considerations need to be given in doing that? I will have a storage area above the room that has all my plumbing and was...

what about domestic hot water in the summertime?

Did I ask such a dumb question it can't be answered or is there something simple that I'm not getting. I am talking about a concrete slab in my garage. I suppose if the pump doesn't run, thermostat not calling for hot water, only cold water would circulate through the floor...

what about domestic hot water in the summertime?

In an open system that supplies domestic hot water along with radiant floor heat, the cold water supply inters the system on the hot water line going out to the radiant loops. Well and good, but what about in the summer when you don't want any heat in the floor to compete with the air...

I need to put some clear on my new slab...?

I too would like to put just clear on my floor. I need toughness and protection from oil, etc. stains, not different color chips. It seems everyone wants color and most want chips in the color.

pump controller for multizone floor heat

Looking at your schematic, wouldn't it be better to bring the cold water supply into the line coming back FROM the zones into the water heater than to temper the hot water going out to the zones??

    So what's the verdict

Well that's the best experience related post yet. I to will want it for a working shop. Spills will be expected. Did you use speckles in your floor? Seems like that would make finding dropped items hard to see.???

    So what's the verdict

I have put a product called CreteDefender on my outside driveway and sidewalk. Suppose to penetrate the concrete and seal it from salt damage. Can't tell it has had anything on it unless you look closely. Don't know how good it is but it's suppose to be a one time apply. Still not sure what...

    So what's the verdict

I have searched but I guess not for the correct word. I've found numerous threads on how happy the owner is with the way the new floor looks, but it only a few days/months old. I found one thread where the owner has posted back pictures of the floor with spilled oil and of the floor after a...

    So what's the verdict

I've been reading and looking at the pictures of these great looking floors and would love to have my new garage/shop look like some of them. But, I know my shop will be used as a working shop, working on cars, trucks, ATVs, small tractors, which means spilling of any and all chemicals, oils...

Help me size a heater for this garage

No it really wouldn't, as long as I can keep it above freezing. It will be used for access to the new part and parking only. Probably a little storage of my fishing/hunting equipment and the wife's gardening stuff. Actually, no more than it takes to heat the old part now, I could leave the...

Help me size a heater for this garage

I am building onto my garage. Going to heat the new edition with radiant under the slab. The old garage is heated with a ceiling mounted propane heater that does a very good job. I plan to remove the wall between the two. Also I plan to have some kind of curtain separating the two to keep...

    I give up......heat recommenations please

OK, so you figure your heat loss. So is that what you want to size your heater for?
