I've stopped buying SAE tools, full stop. I have the basics (sockets, combo wrenches, allen wrenches) and haven't come across a situation where I needed more...ever.
I know other people have different needs, but for me, SAE is dead.
OP: If you want to see if you can get by with only impact sockets, give it a go. If you run into a situation where you don't have enough clearance, get some chrome. They aren't hard to find.
The guy that thinks coefficient of friction is the biggest factor in how well pliers grip doesn't think concentricity matters in a screwdriver test.
I'm shocked.
Another vote for iFixit. I've had my Mako set for years and all the bits are in excellent condition. I've used it on everything from RC cars to smart watches and it always has what I need.
The driver spinner is on bearing. The flexible extension can transfer enough torque to break fasteners...
Glad to hear it.
Don't worry about the gears. Judging by the commutator that saw doesn't have enough miles on it to have any appreciable gear wear.
If you want to be extra careful, go ahead and replace the gear lube, but make sure you get the right stuff.
