    Making the battery Makita won't.

It's a little annoying how well these cheap welders work considering the time, effort and money I put into mine...but I digress. Preheat is a brief pulse that helps to burn off contaminates and oxides prior to the main weld pulse. Edit: Hang on... They've upgraded that BMS. Two additional...

Why are Makita Batteries so much more Expensive than Everybody Elses?

Looking at the evidence in this thread, that's exactly what they did.

Why are Makita Batteries so much more Expensive than Everybody Elses?

The best thing you can do if you buy a knock-off battery is crack it open and check the internals before connecting it to a tool or a charger. If you don't see a proper management board and decent cells, send it back.

    Bosch vs Dewalt chop saw

I'll share the lesson I learned about 12" sliding miter saws: They're gigantic. I should have kept my handy little 10" chop saw and not worried about the 1% of cuts I had to do with my circular saw.

    Making the battery Makita won't.

I just saw those for the first time earlier tonight. The build quality and BMS are not great. It's too bad, because the cells they're using are pretty good.

Those were the universal battery system Ceenr makes. These are different.

Why are Makita Batteries so much more Expensive than Everybody Elses?

Anyone want to order a set of these and crack them open? I've done my part for the advancement of LXT battery technology. https://ceenr.com/product/8ah-battery-for-makita-18v-replacement-model-bl1860b-2-pack/ Edit: Never mind, I found a picture of the internals and it isn't good. It's a...

Why are Makita Batteries so much more Expensive than Everybody Elses?

Tool companies will never stop turning the screws on battery prices. What they're going to do is spawn a market for good knock-off batteries with proper BMS and build quality on par with genuine batteries.

    Ryobi 18v Battery Problem

The cells have probably failed and developed internal shorts. When they charger puts a voltage across it, there's no drop, so it thinks it's seeing a full battery.

Why are Makita Batteries so much more Expensive than Everybody Elses?

Makita batteries have a sophisticated BMS that handles cell balancing internally. That doesn't excuse current prices, though. They're trying to push LXT owners toward XGT. As a Makita fan, it's disappointing.

At what point would you buy a battery operated nailer compared to using a hammer?

You can't identify the benefits of nails/pins over screws when it comes to installing trim?

    DeWalt battery not charging

This one should do the trick: https://www.amazon.com/Jesverty-Variable-Switching-Quick-Charge-Adjustment/dp/B0DDPVDWPZ?tag=atomicindus08-20 You might see cheaper units, but don't buy anything that doesn't have a button to enable the output.

    DeWalt battery not charging

First step is to remove the case and check the voltage of each group of parallel cells. I'm not 100% sure how to do that on a battery that can reconfigure itself, though. Once you figure out which groups are low, you need to charge them slowly with a bench power supply. Do NOT try to charge...

How to size Nickel Strips for Battery Pack?

Respectfully, you don't know anything about this. The mosfets that carry all of the battery current (rather than just switching an auxiliary terminal for tool communication) are three CRTM030N04Ls that are rated for 80A continuous/116A peak. Each. The BMS has essentially nothing to do with how...

How to size Nickel Strips for Battery Pack?

No, I couldn't have added an extra layer. The pack just barely fit in the case the way I built it, with the strips welded as flat as possible. My strips are 0.15x8mm. I did the math on the resistance of the steel between the batteries and the nickel. It comes out to 0.00019 Ohms. Multiplied...
